ORIGINAL DEAL IS NOW DEAD: Now $29.99 AR.

Another Uniden deal at Outpost. Kit includes WNR2004 802.11b AP/Router and one PCW300 802.11b PC Card. $49.99 with $30 rebate, $19.99 net cost. I paid $7.99 for overnight shipping, but ymmv. An alternative to the sole AP if you also need a PC Card.

Is this for notebooks or desktops? I'm assuming notebooks by the look of the card. Hot deal?

yeah, the card is for notebooks, or desktops with PCMCIA slots (few and far between, but for example some SFF VIA PCs have them rather than PCI slots).

normally, i'm not one to ebay around... but i want the router, so i suppose i'll just sell the PCMCIA card. it'll probably cover most of the cost of the router thanks to the ebay buyer stupidity factor.

Warning! Do not upgrade the firmware on the router. Once you do so, the wired portion of your network will not be able to communicate with the wireless portion. According to Uniden this is a known problem with the firmware. Unfortunatly, they dont tell you that on the download page and the old version of the firmware is unavailable. So if you upgrade the firmware you have to wait for a new version for your router to work properly. And I am screwed b.c outpost wont take mine back since I threw away the packaging and sent the UPC in for a rebate. Oh well, last time I buy anything from Uniden. Damn!

Looks good, as it promises no interference with my Uniden 2.4GHz phone. Question: can I use this as an access point with my current SMC Barricade wired router? I'd like to continue using the print server on the Barricade.

Has anyone that ordered this experienced any problems with it? If I hook this up to my cable modem in place of my Netgear router, Internet Explorer and games will work fine, but as soon as I run AOL Instant Messenger on either the desktop or laptop connected to the router, it brings my whole connection down. I switch back to the old router and reboot the modem and everything works normally. Anyone else experience anything weird like this?

And Vaneleus, where did you even find the new firmware for this router, or did you receive a different model? The model I received in this order is WNR 2304, and there are no downloads available on Uniden's website for this router.

2304 is the package code for the 2004 router and PC card.

look under 2004 for router firmware updates.

and no, I havent had that problem with mine, and my firmware is dated sometime spring 2003
