Circuit City has the Santa Cruz for $79.99 - $30 rebate this week.

Fry's has it for $49.99 with no rebate. link to Fry's ad
This is Fry's Friday Ad, so the prices are only good through tomorrow 10/8.

$79.99+tax - $33(110% PM to Fry's) - $30 CC Rebate = $16.99+tax.

YMMV for east coasters :p

Edit :
To get the rebate form online follow these steps provided by matsuhisa:
1. look for a yellow rebate icon at the top
2. then click on "computer peripherals and accessories"
3. you should find the rebate about half way down the page. just do a find and search for $30 on the page.

short for Your Mileage Might Vary (the deal might depend on things like locality, personality of the manager, etc).

Fry's take the instant $30 off. Most retail don't even bother to call Fry's b/c no one in that department ever answers the phone. It's always busy.
PM is a pain.

My local CC won't PM because Fry's is on the West Coast... if anyone gets this deal, I would love to buy the card off of you for a more resonable price.

Worked great for me. Thanks! I've been waiting for a hot deal on this sound card for quite some time. Bye bye Creative 5.1!

yes..

My gf works at Circuit City in So Cal. and tells me that they do practically anything now to get the sell. Just print out the link..if that has problems..use their own internet ready pc's and show them the link. They even print out the rebate forms for you from their pcs.

Too good to be true?? I got the price match, however, here are my observations with the retail box in hand:

1) Go to Outpost which has the same SKU as the Fry's ad above. They're supposedly one and the same "retailer". Notice Manufacture Part number after detailed description: TB120340001. On the box I got from Circuit City it's Part Number TB120-3400-03. I've never seen the physical box at Fry's, so I'm only basing what I see on-line and the boxes do look different too. The CC CSR was about to give me the price match without a problem until she noticed the discrepancy too.

2) Although I got the CC CSR to do the price match after asking her manager, they did not give me the rebate receipt (the one that prints out after your original receipt). They said that they could not give it to me. I said that was fine. I do have the on-line rebate in-hand and will send it in regardless.

3) The on-line rebate allows for a copy of the UPC. So, I suppose if you are successful with getting this card AND a price match, you could hang on to it for as long as you get a status that your rebate has been approved (and in my experience, approved doesn't necessarily mean you'll get the rebate check anytime soon. ;)) If your rebate gets rejected for any reason, you can evaluate if the card's worth what you paid for it or you can try to sell it for a profit. Circuit City only allows "a 14-day tryout on PCs and related merchandise" (as printed on their receipt). However, I'll probably make them take it back if they reject my rebate for any reason since I do qualify for the rebate and since I put it on my credit card for extra protection. :)

I bought the very last card at the Circuit City I was in this afternoon in Northern California (San Jose). If you enter your zip code at CC's website, they should tell you stores that have stock near you.

Good luck!

There shouldn't be any reason why they would reject the rebate. It does not state anything about PM'ing or has to be at a specific price. BTW, I checked the N. Cal Fry's and it doesn't have this item on sale. I guess you can always try at CC which I will tomorrow.

That's odd that's it's not on sale where you are. I'm guessing you're near Sacramento. My ad's good for San Jose, Campbell, Palo Alto, Fremont and Sunnyvale stores.

I have a tbsc running on xp and I get some crackling sounds when I run my apps, I am wondering if it's normal and is there any way to get rid of the crackle?

The TB website has a fix for the xp/2K crackling issue. I installed mine today, and after going through every PCI slot, and reinstalling the drivers about 15 times, with about 30 lockups, I finally got it running, stable, and working fine.

okay.. so i found it. i tried linking it to myself and it doesn't work that way. you actually have to go to the site yourself. it can be found at the circuitcity main website.
1. look for a yellow rebate icon at the top
2. then click on "computer peripherals and accessories"
3. you should find the rebate about half way down the page. just do a find and search for $30 on the page.

it's good til 10/12 but since fry's PM needs to be done by today, today is the last day.

how is CC with their rebates?

If you can't find the Fry's ad in your paper, print out the ad from the link at the top, and try to price match from that.

Thanks, just scored one. All I did was print out the ad (in the PDF format) and the CC guy matched it no problem.
