Also did you exchange your entire remote or just the infrared sensor? Do you get a remote with it or did you keep your remote and sell them you rir sensor?

Why would someone do this? I bought my PS2 just for GT3 and I would do the same for GT4.]q

2 things. First, buying a console system for one game is ridiculous IMO (and lets not forget that GTA3 is available for PC, where it looks much much better). PS2 has roughly 8 million games, so if you only play one you're just an idiot.

And second, you're just furthering my Sony bashing with your post. Your PS2 (and apprently many other peoples as well) is already unreliable? Every console Ive ever had, down to the NES, still works fine. Hell, you could probably drive your car over my genesis and it would still work. Sony makes a system that breaks down and then wants people to pay to upgrade to the same thing? It just doesn't make sense and neither do you.

GT3 is not the same as GTA3. And please don't call people stupid or idiot. I know a bunch of peole that brought a PS2 just to play GT3. Because you can not play that game anywhere else and being one of the best driving games ever is a plus. Also getting a system just because 1 game doesn't mean you can't play or buy other games, and DVDs. My old playstation and playstation 2 never broke down on me and still runs everything fine, you just need to take care of it. The only system that gave me problems is the NES. Have to blow on the game , the system, etc.:)

Oh yes, this should be nationwide because it's even on their website.

I'm getting conflicting info from different EBs in San Diego. The one in Mira Mesa says you only get a $70 trade in value (meaning you pay $80), but other places like North County and National City are confirming the $100 deal. On top of that, if your PS2 has a network adapter included, then you get an extra $10, meaning your total for the redesign is $40.

I will consider this a Hot deal if I can get my old one for $100. Some of my friends are having problem with the old PS2 especially the V1-v4. The dvd drives are wearing down.

The $70 trade in is normal, becaues if they scan you PS2 system it'll show as $70 trade in value, but there's a option or something there that they can do to give you a bonus $30.
Oh the Promo code # for this is 2653

Ment to get more picture but my camera died on me.

EDIT: Ok, got the links fixed.

Thats pretty small, just a bit bigger than a DVD case. If I had an old PS2 I'd probably trade it in on a new one. Small and silent is always good.

EB sells some old games for under $10, like $7.99 or something. can i go buy 5 of those and get $10 for each? it almost seems too good to be true.

it all depends on who you talk to. I'm sure most will give you a weird look and say ,, no.

But you could go buy a old working PS2 from somewhere for say around $70 and use it to get your $100 trade in credit. Some will not check if your PS2 is working or not so you can try something if you feel alittle lucky. ;)

But if they let you trade in any game,, run off to GameSTOP or the flea Market and get some $2.99 games.

I can confirm this deal on the east side of Cleveland. I preordered a unit from the Mentor, OH, store since they were sold out. I haven't done the trade-in yet because I need my fix of GTA:San Andreas in the meantime. :D I don't have a network adapter, and I wanted one, and I have some games I got for $2-$3 at FuncoLand that will net me $10 a piece, in addition to 2 of my own, so I consider this a HOT deal. I got my PS2 on day one of its release and it's been rock solid the whole time, but add up the positives (assuming HDD is not an issue for you) and it's pretty clear that this is a HOT deal:

TRADE-IN PROMO WITH EB
-------------------------------------
5 games from FuncoLand or other used game store - $3-$5 x 5 = $15-$25 cost to you, for $50 credit
Regular PS2 = $100 credit

New PSTwo = $150+tax
-credit = tax
Total out-of-pocket cost = $15-$25+unit tax
Integrated network adapter, SILENT, NEW WARRANTY for a year, no risk of disk load mechanism failure

KEEP OLD PS2
-------------------------------------
Cost of network adapter for regular PS2 = $25 (pricegrabber)
NO WARRANTY ANYMORE (unless you just bought it)
bigger, bulkier, can still use HDD

Now this is just my view on it, since I do not own a network adapter, but even if you do, and you don't want to get rid of any of your games, you can still get in on this deal for net $25 cost to you, probably LESS, since you would get trade-in for your net adapter. $25 or less for a new, smaller, quieter PS2 is GREAT deal.

Upgraded to hot since a number of folks in the thread (including myself) think it's hot. Also now confirmed that this is a nationwide promotion.

I traded in the whole remote, sensor and remote (never used it). To get the full credit for the PS2 console you need a working console, the power cable, the composite video cable and one controller. Basically everything that came in the box when new. The controller does not have to be the original, any official Sony one will do.

EDIT: ^ this is a reply to TJ22's earlier post, the quote didn't work.

the EB in my area said it was only certain games, not all of them. but they said you could trade in XBOX games too towards the credit. I'm still gonna go try it tomorrow

It doesn't. I took mine in to EB and they told me that. It is understandable and I thought they might say that. I guess I will hold on to mine.

Also that I am aware of, I thought the new PS2 was also FLIP TOP, and doesnt have the mechanical eject tray.

Does this mean it will work with MagicSwap? (u know...bootdisks that allow you to play copied games)

If yes then I am so on this.
