I ordered when the Tiger Direct deal was posted a while back. Took forever to ship, but I got it and it works perfectly. If you ordered the non "C" version it is the one with 32Mb on board. Just check the product ID if your not sure I believe if it ends with 3020 (off the top of my head) then its onboard memory. Other than the slow delivery I didn't have any problems. Definately a kick ass player. I love the damn thing. The volume issue seems to always be a topic of debate. In my opinion I don't have a problem with it. It goes up to the point that is "on the verge of bad". Definately the best of what's out there in my opinion. Anyone have any experiance with the MG? how do they compare?

OK, here's the latest in this fiasco. It looks like the dorks at TigerDorket accidentally used the same web page for thier $49, $59, and $69 Nomads. They were supposed to be:

$49: No memory included
$59: 32M SM card included- No headphones or remote
$69: New, sealed box, 32M card included- No headphones or remote

They ended up giving me the Nomad accessory kit for $20/free shipping to make up for the mistake, but I, as most people here have already said, WILL NEVER ORDER FROM TIGER DIRECT AGAIN :disgust:

When I received the package, it was also missing the memory. I called to complain to TigerDirect but
they are telling me to contact Creative and gave me 1-800-998-1000 as their number. So far, the phone number has been always busy.

I did get everything else including the headphone and the wired remote, USB cable and quick setup guide. The player
even had the battery installed but it (the battery) was dead on arrival. I put fresh new battery, installed the software and flashed the 3.00 firmware, I was in business!

The "COSMO" box clearly indicated that it was 0MB player and no SmartCard was included. Fortunately,
I had a spare 32MB card.

Given that I would end up putting 128MB (from NewEgg) card in this player, I do not know how far to push TigerDirect for
the missing SmartMedia. The going price for 32MB card is under $20.

In the end, I may just decide to learn from this experience and never ever order from TigerDirect.

<< BTW, just thought I'd mention that the Beta firmware for the 0 Meg Nomad II is no longer Beta. It's finally final. Finally! :D

For those of you interested, go to http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/firmware/. Just remember to download the firmware SPECIFIC to your device. They are different!

Enjoy.

Does anyone know if you can update the firmware on this model under XP Pro???

Does anyone have the print out or scan of the Nomad II page? I bought one, but I haven't received it yet, and I hope there's nothing missing. :( If anyone can PM me or email me if they have a copy/scan/screenshot of the page, that would be great, thanks! :)

I did. It worked fine. Just make sure you have the new XP driver set before you do it. For some stupid reason, it can be found under the WinME drivers at Nomadworld

I ordered the $59 (0 MB) version. No headphones or remote, but get this, not only did it have the 32MB SM card included, but there was a 64MB SM card in the player. I guess I can't really complain about not getting headphones or the remote. ;-)

For once (it seems) TigerDirect's screwup was beneficial to the customer...

MagisterLudi: you bring back some great memories from my youth with that Glass Bead Game nick. ;)

I ordered the $69 Nomad II for my son a couple of weeks ago with 2nd-day shipping, which was actually cheaper than ground by $2. I got it two-days later. Sealed box with remote, headphones, and 32mb on-board memory --no additional SM card.

A week ago, my wife decided she wanted one, too. Even though the open-box version was now available, I didn't trust that the headphones, remote, etc... would be included, so I ordered the $69 Nomad II with 2nd-day delivery again and it arrived two days later. I also ordered a 64MB SmartMedia card for $21 with FedEx Saver shipping from NewEgg.com at the same time. The card took a leisurely seven-day trip before it decided to finally stop at my door.

CRAP!!! I KNEW I should have forked over the extra ten bones :( I ended up buying the accessory kit from them for $20 more. Well...it came with better headphones, a car adapter, remote, and a leather case, but I still would have prefered factory sealed stuff. Oh well. I wrote a scathing review on Reseller Ratings for them. Let's try to get them down below a 2.0 :)

You lucky bastard! You know this is open box item right... previous owner probably left his memory card inside or something like that. So you saved about 25 bucks over 59 bucks that you spent. Kick ass deal for you!

Received my nomad today (open box one), and it didn't come with a 32MB card, headphones, or remote. :( Sent an email to Tigerdirect, but I doubt they are going to do anything. :(

A warning about the Outpost deal--
I just spoke with a CSR and though he was not positive, he is pretty sure that these do not include all the accessories that are included in the retail box, such as the headphones and remote.
Has anyone seen any other decent deals for the player?

Persistence pays friends!

On my fourth call with TigerDirect I was able to convince the CSR that they had to send me a 32MB SM card. From all of the various postings that TigerDirect could never be a hot deal because they are scum, I was suspicious and I kept a copy of the page describing the $50 Nomad II and clearly indicating that a 32MB SM card was one of the contents of the package. (PM me if you want a copy of the pdf, but I never had to actually produce my proof). I was firm with each CSR I spoke with and made clear that I would keep calling until they sent the card to me that they had promised. They tried for a while to insist that I return the item and they would send me another with the card included, but I decided that I would rather hold on to the gains I had made and avoid any "restocking charges" or other shenanigans that TigerDirect may dream up.

Yesterday, they confirmed a new order for the 32MB SM card (showing a price of $0) and shipped a package to me - I will wait until it arrives to be sure that it is not empty! Hope I am having the luck I appear to be, and others are able to raise the temperature on this deal back to hot!
