First...welcome to all those who have joined! 😀

DSLR now has two big guns....they have the power of about 700 PC's between them...and the potential for more... the only way to overcome them is to have more members that make the difference..and we can't even claim that...as they have almost 300 more members than we do...1662 vs 1949....so that's why we need your help.

Please read the posts below and help..You'll find a great group of TeAm members and a great forum in the DC forum to make friends and have fun...come on..join up and let the fun begin! 😀 We look forward to welcoming YOU to the TeAm! 😀

TeAm AnandTech Easy to Install SETI guide...please use the CLI version install 🙂

Update: Quotes from DSLR members and what they think of AnandTech and our (YOUR) TeAm:

Team AnandTech is good during a challenge, but the difference between TA and DSLR Team Starfire is persistence. Starfire doesn't slack off after a challenge. We maintain our increased production. TA will fall asleep again, within a few weeks of the finish and we'll cut their lead and pass them.

and

Don't get upset at the amount of time the TA guys spend here. Since you've visited their site and read their threads, you should understand why they prefer to spend most of their time here. Let them enjoy themselves for a change. It's soooooo boring over there. >>

Read these and see what kind of respect AnandTech receives...

Started a new thread as the old one was large and potentially hard to read by all....

Thanks to all who have joined and a warm welcome as well...but we need more....

DSLR has their big producer back (about the power of 700 PC's or so)...and he's helping them pull away. Can the AnandTech faithful...with all the members...and all the PC's let this happen.....

I hope not! :Q Please Join..

***Notice to all those who have joined and are using the CLI and SETIDriver....Please make sure to add the shortcut to the STARTUP folder to insure that it will RESTART if your PC is restarted**

Previous thread info...

Hello all.....

It's that time again....we have been challenged to a new race with DSL Team Starfire...

The last race was a great growing experience for both teams but was ended just short of completion because of the sad day of September 11th.

Since then though, team DSL Starfire has outgrown and outproduced us considerably.....now it's our turn!!! :Q:Q:Q

A new race has started and we need your support.....all it takes is a few extra cpu cycles...just a few. The clients use spare CPU cycles in the search for signals and other signs from space for intelligent life or anomolies. They are easy to use, have little (mostly NO) impact on your system (even in benchmarks) and also help science too 🙂

Come on over to the DC forum and see what TeAm AnandTech is all about...you'll be glad you did!!! 😀

Race Rules thread! 🙂

Race Start Thread (with stats links)

What team DSL Team Starfire thinks of AnandTech! :Q

TeAm Welcome thread with client information and setup links 🙂

Come on guys...put that new PC to work....support this great site and a great TeAm...

Team AnandTech needs your help.......please answer the call and defeat the DSL team...you'll be glad you did! 😀

Team AnandTech Strikes back! :Q Buwhahahaha!

Race stats.....click me!

Engineer,

You may also want to mention that, apart from the DSLR race, we can also catch up on teams like Microsoft and Intel - those may be juicier targets to the typical GH forum-goer.

Come on, guys - it's fun. Join up!

Yep, start assimiliating 😀

Even a few WUs a day spread out over many forum users makes a big, big difference. 🙂

We are within 7-10 days of passing Microsoft!!! Think about it your chance to whack them for all the years of frustration!!! BSOD??? Page Fault Errors???

Help us whack Microsoft.....Help us whack Intel.....Help us whack DSLR.....just help us!

Join TeAm Anandtech! 😀

what's seti@home? do you need a broadband connection to use seti? pls make it a simple explanation. id join if i could.

Good morning AnandTech! 🙂

We're in for the race of our life...and you could be part of it!

Please joing! 🙂

One thing to consider...if you don't think that this could be interesting....just look at some of the members who bump these threads religously...they have joined the TeAm in the last 2 weeks and have been giving it hell....and having a blast too! :Q

Hey esc,

Seti@home is a program that checks data returned from signals that have been sent out to space. There is so much of this data that this client was created to help speed up the process. You can go here to get started setting this up on your computer. You don't need a broadband connection at all. Part of the installation is the setidriver. You can cache enough work units for several days worth of work and then simply transmit your results when you dial up. If you aren't on a always-on connection I would recommend you "uncheck" Auto Transmit in the setidriver screen. This will cause you to have to manually transmit you completed work units to Berkley. This is simply a matter of clicking "Transmit" in the setidriver screen when you see the setidriver icon become yellow down next to your clock. Yellow is an indication that one or more work units are ready to be transmitted. Once this transmission is complete the setidriver will automatically download new work units so that it always keeps the number you have elected for you in your cache.
Home this helps, PM if you need additional information or drop by the DC forum and ask!

I have noticed that as well in versions built on NT. I will check with a few people and if it is anything to worry about I will PM you otherwise just ignore that step.

This step is not necessary on NT4/Win2k/XP as those programs shutdown SETIDriver/CLI properly (or at least kick them out😛) when Windows shuts down....Win98/95/ME stalls (but will go in time) if the conagent.exe file isn't checked to indicate "Warn if active..."

🙂

i am currently loading another background stuff for cancer, wouldnt two of these at once low my pc/connection?

If you run two clients chances are good they would both be fighting for cpu cycles and both would be slowed.
Can someone confirm this?

if i remember correctly SETI overtakes the cancer client for CPU cycles, so SETI would only be slowed down a little and the cancer one would take forever, also if i remember correctly the cancer client goes by how long its running on the CPU and not by how fast.

It will trake longer to complete UD WUs, but you will therefore get more points for them.

Come on everybody!
We've got into a better position to handle the big WU's dumps that DSLR does but we still need more help from all you Anandtech readers!

Please go here and join TeAm Anandtech and help us win the race vs. DSLR!
