yea they fit fine, installed mine yesterday. Only hiccup i had was when i took off my old fan heatsink i broke the wire that connected the fan to the connector. That thing was a pain to get off, even with tools.

now running my 9800 pro 128mb at 435/375
b4 the silencer and memory heatsinks from koolance i was at 405/360 anything higher gave me artifacts .

of course arctic silver is better if you have it arround, but if you dont just use the stuff they give you. the difference it makes is like 1 c and not worth the hassle of ordering AS just for this.

Has anyone tried to put a Rev. 2 on a 9800xt? Or even a Rev.3? I know there is supposed to be a Silencer XT out(website says March), but if it would fit with a little effort, the Rev 2 would be a steal.
Thanks
Rhoel

i had some lying around
installed it w/ leftover Arctic silver 3 (from a build 2-3 years ago) but still good

the backplate didn't was too long on mine so that it didn't screw the card into my mobo properly
but i fixed that by using a longer screw...

it is running fine now...

Anyone get a secure site to enter your card number?

No way I am going to enter my c card number on a non
secure site.

does anyone know if i should use the
thermal paste they give or if i should use some arcitic silver

I used Ceramique on mine, Artic Silver would work just fine. Almost all companies save money by including crappy thermal paste with their items. I didn't think anyone really used that stuff ;D

I bought one during the last special for my sapphire 9800 pro.
Before changing out the cooler, the vidcard ran hot enough to burn my fingers.
Now I can caress it softly, precioussss, sooo soffftly.. *cough* without burning my
fingers.
I never really OC'd the card (DOH!) before adding the cooler, but since then I've had it at approximately
450/365 stable in 3dmark03 and, most importantly for me, bf42+mods, with only a few artifacts.
Can get memory to go much higher but artifacting gets worse and worse.

One comment, the heatsink helps to pipe hot air out the first cpi slot, but in my case, it came up a little short.
I bridged the gap with some chewing gum and baling wire and now my case temps are 5-degF lower.

So I'd buy another one.

how did you lower the case temp? "bridged the gap", what do you mean?

Today I got the cooler in the mail and spent an hour install it. But I can only OC (using Omega Radlink) to 420/466 (3dmark03 score from 5900 to 6300). Higher clock rates will cause visible artifacts 🙁. I have a 9800 Pro (made by ATI) that came with dell 8300. How did you guys OC to 435 or even 450?

Also, if I uninstall Omega driver and use Catalyst 4.4, does the OC'ed rate go back to BIOS default?

I picked up one of these during the last special. I was out of town on my honeymoon when it came, but I finally got it installed on my P4 system this week. Very easy install. I used some Ceramique that I had laying around. I am able to clock to 430/365 using ATI tool before it starts detecting errors. Not bad for $10. It definetly helps keep my system temps down when gaming too. After an hour of COD, I couldn't notice much of a rise in system temps. Before the VGA silencer and its rear exhaust, my sys temps rose steadily during gaming untlil my CPU and sys temps were nearly identical! Not a good thing. Now they are 5-7C lower.

I was able to just uninstall Omega from control panel, but leave RadLinker. Now I'm running Cat4.4 AND RadLinker...

Mine came in today. Got some Panaflo fans also and now my rig will be near silent.

Arctic cooler - $10
Panaflo fans - $3 each
Silence - Priceless 🙂

Quick ? The fans come with a 2 wire header. I can bend the pins on some 3 pin to 3 pin jumpers to make it fit. Is using just the Red + and Black - . Is that enough power for these fans or do I need to somehow jump the yellow wire also?

TIA

If you want to use the slot cover that comes with this unit, you have to mod it some. A little dremel, and tin snips work on the double slot cover, and the grounding plate, and it will work with the 9800 AIW, and the others. It is a qualitiy piece.😀

For the silencer, will Artic Silver 2/3 be ok? I can't remember which one I have but I bought some a few years back that I still haven't finished. It was either 2 or 3.
