the quality of media has gone up a lot these years im not sure if it is worth going B stock TY vs A stock brand names such as sony =/

(gone sony myself as local BB deals)

Good deal. I bought these a few months ago at Newegg for $25 shipped. Went through about 50 DVDs or so, no problems at all.

Is there a tangible difference? Haven't coastered anything for years using TDK from costco.

I started using T.Y. Value Line years ago because it was the only budget DVDs that worked consistently. Others may be as good now, I don't know, but I still buy T.Y.

I am also really curious about the quality differences. Over the course of 2 years, I've burned close to 1000 DVDs using the cheapest available junk and never had a single coaster and they've all worked in different standalone players or computers.

I remember when TY CDs were all the rage but (if my memory serves me right), CDs quality was noticeable as some would not play in standalone CD players or other computers.

The question is not whether they burned OK at the time, the question is whether all of the data is still readable now, years later.

I wouldn't want to rely on DVD media as a permanent archive regardless of media branding. I have stacks of Made in Japan DVD blanks that I just stopped using once HDD storage became so cheap. Now I rip all of my music and movies to my HDDs and stream them with the media players. There are occasions that I need to share larger files but nothing that warrants looking/paying for Tier 1 blanks.

I can get a 100 - 720P AVCHD movies stored on disc's for $19.99, show me a reliable 433GB useable space hardrive new for $20.

Whoa! Hold your horses!

Supermedia store usually has a great deal for black friday if you buy in bulk like I do. Last year I bought 600 for cheaper I think.

I use value line almost all the time. I had a bad batch once where a couple out of the 100 pack may have been bad. But 99.9 percent or higher of the time they are fine.

I did run into an issue once where they started putting higher speed discs into the value line and my older dvd burner didn't work with them. Simply bought a new one for 20, 25 bucks and was good to go.
