115 coupons left ---- does anybody know why they are willing to lose $1000's of dollars from doing this?
Q]

I don't know... but maybe because nike ... lets say.... makes these shoes in ... oh ... say ... china. with a marginal cost of about 5 american bucks per shoe and sells them for $20 dollars to the middle men...

They don't lose 1000's of dollars ... they never lose ... they only make less

Wow, that was fast! The only thing I am worried about now is whether if I ordered the right sizes. I wear size 10 dress shoes, because if I tried to put on a 10 running shoe, they almost always feel a little too tight. So I ordered a 11. Do all you people here wear a 1+ size running shoe than your dress shoes? I think I'll go try them on tonight at footlocker, and see how it feels. If it doesn't work, I'll call in to change my orders before they ship it.

Can't you be a new customer twice in the same day?? 😀 Maybe not.
Was trying to order a pair for the wife AFTER I already ordered mine, but I couldn't figure out how to checkout from the cart (was going to put her name/work address so it'd be a different user), anyway, got worried when the coupons available dropped to single digits, so I did sprint checkout.
For the time being it shows that I've got 2 pairs at the special deal price.
If they want to cancel one, that's o.k. with me....thing thing that irritates me is that I bought shoes from them years ago, they send me spam e-mail once a week, and I have to come to ATHD forum to READ ABOUT THIS?!?!!? THE GALL!!! THE NERVE!!!...well, to get new customers maybe, but STILL!!! hehehe.
Anyway, thanks for the deal.

"They" never lose? Who's they, dotcoms???? 😉

They will loose one some of these since they are up to $130 a pair. Margin above wholesale and operations overhead isn't that much. They are probably doing this to generate more future business as well as reduce summer inventories so they don't get stuck with shoes they can't move later. It also makes room for new upcoming models.

So you ripped them off twice then, since you weren't a "new customer", and you ordered twice as well.

Hahah, I just got in on the deal too...I personally saw the coupons drop from 100+'s left to deal over in literally like 5 mins. I also ordered a pair of the Nike Air Maxx and did a sprint checkout for another pair of new balances for my dad. Hopefully at least one will go through.

LOL. Remember the good old days when all those now bankrupt dot coms had all those awesome promotions? ValueAmerica, Real. Ahh the memories. Ain't no way Roadrunnersports will make money off this, like most of us are gonna shop from them again if there isn't some sort of coupon attached, yeah right. At least they were smart enough to set a limit on the number of coupons they gave out ($55,000 worth). That figure could have easily gone much higher.

Woohoo - such a deal! I got the North Faces. The only way I was able to get the transaction to process was by establishing a membership, but I have my receipt and tracking info.

Thanks to TRS25 for the best deal in a while!

Unfortunately I wasn't in on the ATHD's then, muchless AT at all since I joined to get some tech support in '00 but it was about a year before I really started parusing the site...good thing I found it...maybe good thing I didn't find it sooner too. 😉

Hey jjsole, please chill, it's not a big deal, I was J O K I N G .

Take your Zanac and relax.

Yes, I did order twice, and..... N O ......I won't be one of those people who freak out and threaten class action lawsuits if they cancel the second order.....even though I did bring Philips to task and appeared on the CBS evening news for them paying a rebate MUCH TOO LATE!!! 🙂

p.s., here's a
rolleye.gif
for you, since you're so uptight! 😀

Despicable, you have absolutely no mercy on these retailers!!! 😛😉

I'm pretty sure they ship from California, since I paid taxes. It will probably take 7 days to ship with VA; that's what it took when I shipped my computer from VA to CA through USPS.

They ARE losing thousands of dollars since they are selling shoes at a price of $50, instead of selling them for $125. Besides, do you really know they are not losing money? Nike could have sold them the same $125 pair of shoes for $60.

They can lose money by making stupid decisions......did you sleep through the late 90's when thousands of dot coms went out of business?? heh.

jjsole - hehehe🙂

I don't know if they're losing money or not, what I do know is that I've been dealing with this company for a few years now, and I think they're first rate. Perhaps this is a loss leader to try to drum up some new business, I don't know, but if you guys need running shoes and other workout stuff, this is a good site to go to. They always have some sort of promotion going on, friendly customer service, and goods have always been as advertised - plus, I don't know of another retailer who can beat their prices....o.k., I never really *tried* to find one because I know this one is good, and they've got better prices than the shoe stores in the mall.
there you go, that's my $.02

BTW, I'm pretty sure the company is based in San Deigo, CA, so those of you in So Cal will probably have your shoes before the middle of next week!

i can't believe how fast this deal went from hot to dead in the span of like 2 hours. it really pays to keep your eyes glued to this forum all day long!! great post!! 🙂

Update--I'm trying to check my order status by clicking on my Order#, and it says "Unexplained error has occured." Anyone know what this is?

Strange...because when I clicked my order number, it just shows me my order history, but no status whatsoever?

woohoo!!!!
i got my shoes today via usps priority mail
and they included a free book worth $20: Running for the Soul 2
i'm really shocked i received it so fast since i called on 8/16 to change the shoe size
i just laced up my asics gel kayano '02 and they feel great!
🙂!!!!

I get the "An unexplained error occured. Please try again." message for my order status as well.

Kei, is your order history on their site correct? Did you get your order in early? I think the count was between 50-100 coupons left when I placed mine.

don't worry guys
i get the same message as well (An unexplained error occured. Please try again)
paid the standard $8.99 shipping
got them so fast because i live in san diego

i called yesterday morning to change the shoe size and the csr was so nice
they must have shipped out the shoes later that day

if your shoes don't fit....no worries
they even include a free return shipping label

i love this company
customer service at it's best!
