Arrived today as stated when I ordered. Invoice shows the correct $59.99+tax price. I'll send in the rebate because it meets all the requirements. Great deal at $59.99 - another DOTY when $30 rebate arrives. Not sure why there would be a problem with the rebate, I just got my $25 rebate on Pacific Digital 8x DVD that was pricematched to OfficeMax substitution price of $79.99. That deal ended up being $55.00 for a $199.99 shelf priced drive. This would only be a $29.99 for a $139 shelf priced item after rebate.

I expect the rebates will be valid. We'll see.

If you have your order #, you can always go to the UPS.com website and click Tracking -> Track By Reference #, enter your Staples order #, zip code and USA and it will pull up your UPS tracking #.

I throw up the BS flag

Hate to say it, but even the people who got in on this deal LATE Sunday had their hard drives shipped Monday morning. I'll believe it when I see one complaint that says "They charged my card but I never got the drive and they refunded it".

I heard that if you didn't have the coupon # they were canceling it, but if you followed the deal - your drive shipped.

I didn't have the coupon, and neitehr did a friend of mine, we both got the drives today. No problems. Thanks again to FW for hot hot deals :) Oh, and Anandtech too.

People will know in the next few days.

As for people saying they think it's BS because they ordered Sunday and got their drive, that's not unusual. Staples doesn't fill orders in the order they're rec'd. They get filled by the nearest warehouse. Different warehouses have different amounts in stock so someone on the east coast that ordered Sunday may get one while someone on the west coast who ordered on Friday may get stiffed.

QUESTION::

My drive was shipped and arrived, but receipt shows a different name in the customer field. Apparently when I gave them the info, the CSR didn't care to correct the name when the old info in their database showed up with my address. I'm wondering if I enter the rebate info with my correct name would it work with RebateHQ or would I have to contact someone first. Thanks.

The names probably have to match. I would get it corrected if I were you...just to make sure they don't invalidate your rebate.

I received the drive yesterday but the weird thing is, the charges haven't posted to my credit card. How long does it usually take.

Good question! Also do we just cut out the UPC symbol or the whole sticker on the side of the box?

I've always sent in a copy of the original invoice (unless rebate specifically specifies the original) and the entire label on the side of the box. My rebates never got rejected so I will continue to send the stuff aforementioned.

i just called in to make sure, and the woman said that it was credited and possibly posted today...niether the $140 for the drive or the $80 credit has posted yet, so I am not cutting the UPC off until i see exactly how much I owe. One question though. What stops someone from returning it to a b&m with the $140 reciept and getting $140 back when you only paid ~$60, leaving the UPC intact...

some stores refund the lowest sale price of the item without receipt, which i imagine would be the case here.

thanks

Exactly what I was about to ask :) My shipping invoice says "This is not an invoice" across it. Should I print out the order from my account?

Hehe...sorry guys. I call it an invoice. The other piece of paper would be what I call a packing slip. Anyways, you can either send a copy or the original paper that says "This is not an invoice". How bout we call it a "Receipt" :)

Ahhh spank you kind sir. I think what I'll do is send a copy of that packing slip along with the printout of my order confirmation.

I think we are going to have to fight to get this damn credit ... I checked my account today and $148.38 was finally charged to my account on 02/25/2004 (received the drive on 02/24/2004) ... but no credit was posted, although I was promised the credit ... anyone else see their credit yet?

Got my drive today (wasn't home yesterday to sign for UPS). Checked my credit card status online and both the charge and credit show up. Great deal! The rebate only makes it sweeter!

Still haven't had the credit show up on the credit card so I'm left waiting to see it before I actually open the box and install the drive. I'm confident in getting the $84.xx credit and the rebate so I do have to say this is possibly the best deal I've been able to participate in.
