Does this sound right that they credited my card $80 some dollars but it doesnt show on the receipt or on the online status?

Most likely they are getting some kind of "kick-back" from Maxtor for "flushing out" older inventory. New box time? ROFL

Make sure you have support for > 137gb drives. MaxBlast had to enable it on my Windows 2000 machine.

is it SP1? 48Bit LBA addressing is incorporated into SP1, which you need to address more then 137gb of data

If it's an UATA-133 controller card it shouldn't be a problem with the card itself. If you're using your motherboard IDE headers, your specific board's BIOS needs to be dated at least 03/07/2002.

Got mine today. Haven't opened it yet as I haven't seen the $84.84 credit on my credit card yet. BTW- This drive shows as ~ 152 GB.

I got mine as well. Called CS and asked about the $84 credit, said it will be posted in a few days and it's not on the invoice because it's been done as a separate transaction.

Same here. CS confirmed that there was an $80.04+tax credit that was processing and would go through in 48 hours.

I was told when I ordered that the credit would be a separate transaction, so I wasn't surprised to see the full price on the packing slip.

i just read on chubbywallet that some guy said corporate has made a decision not only not to honor orders that haven't gone out yet if you haven't received yours... but that you can kiss the rebate goodbye as well... hope it's not so...

That's correct. 1MB does not equal 1000KB.

That's correct. 1MB does not equal 1000KB.
1KB = 2^8 which is 1024. 1 MB = 1024^2. 1 GB = 1024^3.
This is the standard memory uses, and the standard most OS's use. That means thats what you will see when you do a dir or use windows explorer.
HOWEVER, drive manufactures use 1 MB = 1,000,000 which makes the drive look bigger. And they say that on the box and on most advertisements and on thier websites.

One more GREAT AnAndTech deal.

I followed the directions EXACTLY as posted on Sat evening,
and Staples answered within 3 minutes.

I told the representative that I wanted "the harddrive deal"
and he responded with "Ah Yes .... You want the 160GB drive."

I said 'Yes' and we continued.

As of 8 pm E.S.T., he said he personally had done between 35 and 40 of these.
Not an "overwhelming" number of orders by any means.

The Total NET cost <BEFORE any rebates> charged to my credit card was only $64.17, including tax.

The MAXTOR drive arrived today, and the receipt showed a total of ONLY $64 + change charged to my credit card.
And .... as of now, my $30 rebate form is in the U.S. mail headed South.
And the drive is now formatted, mounted in a BYTECC ME-320U external case (from DealSonic for $30 DELIVERED !) and hooked up on a USB 2 connection as my 7th drive.

So ....... My favorite Harddrive brand <Maxtor - I have used maybe 15 of them over the past 7 years and NEVER had a single failure !>, at a virtually unbelievable price and
the order completed over the phone with FREE home delivery.

I'ld call that a TOTAL WIN ... and Many Thanks to AnAndtech one MORE time.

received mine :)
And, invoice says $64.something. I'm not worried about the rebate. I was a good deal without it. (I didn't say I wasn't going to bother sending in the rebate... I'll still try for that.)

Send in your rebate. They do not have any legal ground to stand on in regard to denying the rebate. The rebate is for Maxtor 160 GB HD purchased between January 11, 2004 and February 28, 2004. There are no conditions regarding price, substitution, etc. listed on the rebate form.
