I wanted to play the game but there are way to many bugs with movement (mouse scrolling). I spent hours trying to fix and never could get it to work decent enough to play. Supposedly DS2 is better but like playing from the beginning of a series.

Google problems with this game!

I solved all my mouse lag issues by simply turning off the in game vsync, which also locked the game to 30 frames per second. Unfortunately, it's not that easy for some people, and even once you do solve that problem the game has mouse acceleration when you use the aim function. You can fix the FOV with an app found at the WSGF however, SMAA works around the white haloed AA, and you can enable Ambient Occlusion in the NVCP. So if you can look past the mouse acceleration while aiming, you can have a fun and attractive game.

What is WSGF? I think I used rivatuner to turn off the in game vsync but still had probs with mouse. I'm interested if you found a fix as I for one wanted to play the game but very few helpful suggestions online.

Because doing a search and taking the time to read the dozens and dozens of threads about it wouldn't possibly be able to clarify your deep, specific, and unique questions about the game.

I don't have any tips if the vsync didn't solve the lag issue, that's all I had to do. The acceleration while aiming is part of the game though, and can't be changed.

Not at all, the mouse controls are the worst i have ever seen in a computer game, ever. I can usually hit 80%+ accuracy in simulattion style games(original R6, ARMA 2, Operation flashpoint, etc) and 60%+ in arcade shooters(UT, L4D, etc). But i couldnt for the life of me get the mouse working well enough to get much over 25-30% accuracy. What a complete waste of time IMO.

Like most console ports its best played with a 360 controller, theres always the people who say "i used mouse and it was fine" but who knows what they mean by fine or how far they even got with the game.

Its designed with the 360/PS3 controller in mind, use it to avoid unnecessary frustration. As far as the game goes its 100% worth getting, its the best survival horror game since the good resident evils (1,2,3), i was extremely impressed with it overall. Dead space 2 was equally good.

Loved them both, used a 360 controller. (except for the asteroid defense section, had to use the mouse for speed)

Yes, great game! Use X360 gamepad (except in the asteroid defense part - made me so mad... managed in the end but after like 20 retries...). Nice story, great atmosphere, great visuals (use MLAA / FXAA - no more jaggies) and the UI is totally awesome. Very much worth it.

I beat the game using the Mouse/Keyboard. Best single player game I ever played. Yes, the controls were sluggish, but I really believe that was to make it a bit more intense. When someone shows up behind you, it isn't too realistic to make a jumping 180 in .001ms.

Again, best single player game I ever played. I am a hardcore space sci-fi guy. So the setting for me is just perfect. Play it in a dark room, which some high quality head phones or speakers. The sounds are really well done.

Unlike Doom3, stuff doesn't randomly spawn behind you just for the hell of it. I swear D3 had code to spawn stuff on your back. So it didn't matter what way you were looking, the mobs always spawned behind you. Well, honestly, that may not be entirely accurate, but just what I experienced. I didn't like D3 at all.

turned off vsync, mouse-keyboarded my way through.

And issac is clumsy, but to give him credit he's an engineer, not a fucking olympic champion with 15 gold medals. He's also wearing a huge clumsy suit with random metal plates attached all over. And he's carrying 5 guns.

It has situational mouse acceleration, it's not some clever game design choice. It's left over crap because it was built for a controller, and the designers were either too unaware, or too thoughtless to fix it when they ported the game.

Weird...I played 1 and 2 without issue, KB+M and I beat both games using just the default Plasma Cutter, since you really didn't need anything else on normal.

Accuracy was never an issue and I'd never consider myself a hardcore twitch player. I agree with the person that said the sluggish movement was probably intentionally, because it sure did add to the "shock value" when you are being chased by a handful of Necromorphs and you can't turn on a dime.

I justed disabled ingame v-sync to remove the mouse lag but got tearing out the ass and FPS in the 100+ then used D3D-O to with v-sync on high to fix tearing and keep it locked to 60 FPS.

Forced 8xSSAA created weird white lines so I just used the in-game vasoline AA.

What bothered me is having to drag the mouse across the mousepad 3 times just to do a 180 degree turn. Regardless of mouse settings and vsync. Might have to try a controller.

All of my mouse-lag/Vsync problems were solved simply by using D3D Overrider. It's a small application that forces triple-buffering in DirectX games. In the PC version of Dead Space, they made it so your computer's performance somehow negatively affects mouse speed. Forcing triple buffering fixes all that. Just be sure to leave the in-game Vsync turned off.

Go with this. :) The bad controls make for better atmosphere.

*Obligatory rant* However, I would LOVE for console ports to get the spit and polish they deserve! I swear they are just leaving money on the table! It can't be hard to create a M&KB interface. It's been done to death! The tempates are there, just do it!

However, don't miss it. Especially since you can get DS1 for $5 on sale. If you haven't played it, you're in for a treat!

I once had a copy of the DS featurette and misplaced it. I just noticed it's on Netflix. (At least I think it's the same thing...) Will have to check it out.

I hate that you cannot change the key binds. I hate using WASD for movement and it sucks they could not let you change that. Have played about 5 mins of it.

I've played it almost all the way thorugh twice, and enjoyed it. Playing it with headphones on is borderline too much fo me.

Since I just got a 55" LED TV I'm thinking about playing it again on PS3; I think it's one of the best looking PS3 games.

I loved it. You HAVE to disable vsync to make it playable with a mouse though. Also, it will be too easy once you get the mouse working.
