Start with checking the Vertical Sync. If its on it will cause it to seem like there lag between the mouse and the actual movement.

Dead Space was a good game LOADED with technical problems for PC gamers. Not least of which was the atrocious V-Sync problem. I also suffer from the crashes caused by OCed graphics cards - totally reproducable and incredibly frustrating.

They actually run the keyboard/mouse input through a program that emulates an analog controller, so that your inputs don't behave like a mouse/kb at all. If you move the mouse slowly enough, you can drag it across your entire mousepad and your crosshair won't move one hair, because it's emulating the deadzone of an analog thumbstick. Fucking unbelievable.

They really, really screwed up this port, and basically urinated on all their PC customers. It's a shame, because the game itself was rather good.

Fucking EA. Makes me upset all over again.

I never realized this game was that badly ported. I think it kinda flew under the radar for a lot of people, including myself. I have almost no interest in horror games, though.

Yeah, it was very sad. I was looking forward to it, as it looked like a fresh take on the horror sci-fi FPS, more serious than Doom. Yet with all the money invested in this game, they couldn't spend what little it would cost to port it properly, let alone provide basic mouse/keyboard input functionality. Running it through an analog controller emulator was just plain shoddy... You've got to ramp up your mouse sensitivity to the max, and even then your crosshair is sluggish.

What's REALLY insulting is that iirc, the entire time they claimed they had a PC dev team working on this from the ground up, simultaneously with the console teams. Which was clearly a lie.

This was one of the games I waited to play until I picked up my PS3. The PC port is just terrible.

The port isn't as bad for everyone as it appears to be for some. I had a few crashes, but otherwise I had no problems with the game after I disabled Vsync.

Dead Space ran fine you just need to disable Vsync that was basically the only problem with the port was because mouse speed was somehow tied to frame rate or some shit.

Also the reproducable crashes for some people with OCed cid vards (like my 8800GT), and the inputs being run through an analog controller port, and the mouse speed needing to be adjusted to maximum (and it still is incredibly slow).

Aside from that, and the V-Sync issue being gamebreaking unless you know about it... Sure, the port is fantastic!

Pffffft.

I got lucky with Dead Space I suppose. I never had any crashes of any sort and the mouse/V-SYNC fix was out before I installed it.
I really enjoyed it!

The analog emulation was annoying but outside of that it's a pretty good port. The frame rate is good, the game looks good, load times are ok, and I've never had the game crash.

I disable vsync ingame and forced it in the nvidia driver and the mouse lag was virtually gone.
Loved the game BTW.

I just got Dead Space

enabling Triple Buffering through D3DOverider (a program that comes with RivaTuner) produced the most noticeable increase in in-game mouse sensitivity for me. my mouse sense was still very sluggish when trying to aim with Vsync turned off, but enabling Triple Buffering fixed the sluggishness for the most part. it still feels wierd occasionally (might have to do with the camera), but it doesn't feel like trying to move through molasses while aiming now.
