Dead Space 2 - Who's getting it?

So Dead Space 2 is right around the corner. I can't wait to play it because I didn't even know about Dead Space until about 4-5 months ago! I got the first game and played through it twice. It was a lot of fun.

So who else is getting Dead Space 2, out this coming Tuesday?

Btw, here's IGN's review of the game: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/114/1145331p1.html

Scored a solid 9.0 but apparently the MP is "flat". This game is about SP anyway so meh.

I loved the first game. IMO, it was simply one of the best survival horror games in years, hands down. The fact that I hadn't been anticipating it and it took me by surprise made it even sweeter.

That said, I'm a little nervous about the sequel. I'm just afraid now that its more well-known, EA will dumb it down and consolize it to be made more accessible for the new found fans.

Just a fear, nothing to base that on. It just seems the longer a series goes, and the more popular and well-known it becomes, the more simplistic it gets in every way.

I have the first Dead Space. Grabbed it for $7 and free shipping from Newegg a few months back. Installed it.....And it made my stomach sick. Don't know why. Plan on trying it again though.

But Ill pick up Dead Space 2...if I like the first one. Which I probably will. But no 2 until I finish 1.

Pre-ordered on Steam. Got a very cheap Dead Space with it (3€ or something) and will try to finish it before DS2 launches. Last time I played it was on my Xbox and my PC can definitely give me a better experience! Loved it on my Xbox 🙂

I'm sure I will eventually. I also liked the first one enough to play through it twice. Gonna wait for a sale or price drop below $30 though.

I have it pre ordered for $29.99 from EA store. back when I pre ordered the game it was $49.99 and I had a $20 promo code. no way would I pay $59.99 for a video game as 30 bucks is my max limit.

This game is EPIC! It's so much fun! The controls are more responsive too and I don't notice the somewhat annoying "delay" when turning around from the first game (yes, v-sync off in-game, forced through D3DOverrider + triple buffering).

The game is more action oriented, Isaac comments on a lot of things too, the graphics are beautiful and the game runs at a solid 60FPS with everything maxed in-game + MLAA. I'm playing with an Xbox360 wireless gamepad.

I did find a bug or two, like falling through the world (had to look for it though). And the physics are sometimes off with the bodies (mostly when they interact with doors), but this is something I have noticed in DS1 too and other UE3-based games.

I think the game was well worth the asking price. Great gameplay, great story, great visuals.

I bought it. Kind of regret doing so - it's not a bad game, it's actually quite a bit of fun, but it's very very short. Plus, they still haven't fixed the vSync issues. Thankfully they did fix the mouse control issues.

I've only got an hour or two in, but am feeling the same way. It's enjoyable, and it isn't a technical fuckup monstrosity like the first one... but it's a little more MEH this time.

I just realized that I should try tinkering with the FoV. Anyone know if it's possible? It feels like I'm looking through a damned paper towel tube most of the time. 🙂

That's exactly the kind of feedback I'm interested in.

Thanks!

Looks like I won't be buying this until it's $20.

I have a hard time paying $50-60 for any single player only FPS. I'll wait till its in the the bargain bin.

Same here. Why pay $60 for a SP-focused game when you can just wait a couple months and get it for half that much? I feel like companies would make more money by selling their games for a lower initial price (say, $40) while maintaining stricter controls on the price so it doesn't drop so quickly in a short period of time.

.

I hear ya, but I don't exactly get the "consolized" statement, as the original was released on consoles nearly a week before the Windows release date 😉 It was a "consolized" game from the get-go.

Which is actually part of the reason I couldn't get into the game when I tried the Windows demo a year or two ago--I'm one of those who disliked the kb/m controls. I feel it's a game I would enjoy if the controls didn't bother me, so maybe I'll get around to trying it again since I've finally picked up a 360 controller for the PC.

Grabbed it for $24.00 at cdkeyshere since i loved the first one.
$60 is just ridiculous, i would have NEVER purchased it for that.

Played about an hour in and so far its just as good as the original, i'm having a blast!

I'm a little disappointed about the lack of AA, and some color banding.
But the atmosphere, shadows and lighting are terrific.

finally someone else that notices the color banding. its the worst I have ever seen in any game. I have to turn the brightness all the way down for it to be bearable. I thought it was just my monitor but it still does quite a bit even on my crt. on the crt its not quite as bad though so that's what I am using. it sucks playing at 1280x960 instead of of my widescreen but for less color banding and no backlight bleed its worth it.

LOL, installed it on my wifes pc last night and sat there for over an hour replaying the intro sequence fiddling with her monitor settings trying to fix those color bands thinking it was the monitor settings.
And i ended up doing the same as you did and set it up to run a little darker than i would have preferred just to try and make it less noticeable.

When i finally finished setting it up for her, when i got back to my pc to actually play, i didn't bother since i knew i couldn't eliminate the banding completely.

Anyway, it is a great game.
If you liked the original, this is a must buy, its definitely a worthy sequel going by the reviews and what i've played so far.
