Spent quite a bit of the weekend grinding through Dead Space so I have that story before I get my copy of Dead Space 2 come Tuesday. Getting the PS3 version, which also comes with Extraction, and since I pre-ordered, got the Dead Space Ignition game on PSN for free.

Currently just getting into Chapter 6 of Dead Space, it's been awesome, but probably not going to finish it by Tuesday when my DS2 pre-order from Amazon shows, but definitely excited to jump into the sequel once I've finished it up.

Who else is getting Dead Space 2 Day One?

I'm looking forward to it but I'm not getting it anytime soon. It's quite a bit different than Dead space 1 from what I've seen. The setting is much larger in size, and enemies are larger. Looks great though. Be sure to tell us if you like it.

Played the demo, seemed to be a bit more responsive control-wise, which was one of my few gripes of the original. Only thing I didn't like was having to stomp dead bodies in order to get items from them. That seems like it will be kinda annoying.

Got the CE coming in tomorrow from walmart.com. Doesn't matter though as I gashed my right thumb up pretty bad, so I got a little while before I will be able to play it.

Anyone buying Dead Space 2 (360) who isn't going to play Dragon Age 2, can I have your armor code EA put in?

Yeah, controls definitely seem a little less tank-ish in the demo, this one is supposed to be a more linear, action based experience, so it would make sense for them to make the control more fluid.

I am playing DS2 right now. If you like the 1st Dead Space, you'll love DS2 but the online play sucks at least on the PS3.

I haven't had any issues with the online play. Plays a lot like L4D, which I like as I have a strong preference towards a game that rewards strong teamwork.

Personally, Dead Space 2 is one of those rare instances where the sequel is a bazillion times better than the first, and just seems to really ooze perfection.

And the first one was a good survival horror game..

I finished the game last night... was one of the best singe player games I've ever played. probably one of the best games I've ever played. It did everything right, graphics, sound, gameplay, controls, story, legnth etc, etc.

Definetely went above and beyond my expectations. Now time to try out MP

Good to hear. I got halfway through the first one before I shelved it. It was good, but there were far better games out that I wanted to play instead. If this one improves on the things I didn't like then it should be great.

My friend said basically the same things. Once he started it, he couldn't quit playing it. He did say at one point last week he thought he was almost done, but I don't think he has finished it yet.

I've been sitting here looking at it for the past week. I'm so ready to be able to play it. It's been killing me. :p

What a fanatically eerie game. Initially I planned on playing it for a few hours on Friday, but it totally sucked me in and I ended up plowing through it over the weekend. I'm bowled over by the production quality of it all. The way the action roll in and out of the in-game cinematic sequences are so well orchestrated you'd think Valve might have worked on this game.

It also might be, perhaps, the most gory game I've played--or at least stands along side Gow of War 3--but there is a context to it all I suppose. For me it teetered on gratuitous, but it was never too much for me to stop playing. I understand there are people who love this stuff, and I do too, but I think I'm getting old or something. :p

Overall the game is a marvelous horror/action game, and in fact it might be my new favorite.

I liked the first one for awhile and then just got a little bored with it probably half way through. I know I'm way behind the times but am finally playing Bioshock 2 and have Alan Wake on the shelf waiting to be played next. Looks like DS2 will be up either before or after Alan Wake. I really can't wait as I've been itching for a good survival horror game lately.

I was the same way w/ the first one....second one kept me interested- beat it w/in a week (which for me is pretty crazy...)

I *loved* it.

One thing- did anyone else think it wasn't as "scary" as the first? I think one of the reasons I didn't finish the first was that it was tough to play extended periods of time always on edge...this one was def. creepy, and had it's startling moments, but overall I felt much more relaxed playing through it. Might just be been-there-done-that.

I've been holding off buying it, but may have to break down and give it a whirl after all the great reviews i've read.

I would agree with that - not quite as scary as the first one. Of course, we've seen it all before so there are less surprises :). One thing about DS2, there seem to be a lot more cases of baddies popping in behind you, which kind of adds to the tension/frustration level.

I have to commend Visceral on the sound design on both of these games is also outstanding, and if you're not playing with surround sound you are missing out.

Yep- if I didn't have surround I would have been screwed maaaany times- I actually used sound more than sight many times to figure out where they were.

Just beat this on Normal. I was thinking about trying Hardcore since I'd like the challenge but after playing the last two chapters I'm not so sure.
Not a fan of the invincible necromorph.

Yeah, they had one of those in the first one too, made some vague sense in DS1, but the one in DS2 made no sense. Nothing a fully upgraded line gun couldn't handle tho.

Beat the game last night, probably the most annoying part to me was
blowing up those tanks to clear the tracks while those guys kept popping up to stop me
. Almost switched it over to Easy at one point to get through that.

Great game overall, some really great death sequences.

Just finished it last night. Enjoyable game, but I didn't enjoy it as much as DS1. DS1 felt more like survival horror and DS2 felt more like action/sci-fi horror.
After the second or third "vision" of Nicole, I was bored with that and they just became annoying pauses in the action throughout the rest of the game. I also thought the "invincible" necromoprh was lame. It was one of my favorite parts of DS1, being chased was great fun.. but I've seen it before, and it just felt a bit banal at this point.
Good game, but not as much fun as the first, IMHO.
