I have one of these drives that I keep for use with my Viao and an HTPC. Great drive, but a bit noisy.

That depends entirely on your motherboard BIOS. For most, the answer is no.

I have a bit different experiences. For the new PCs (both notebooks and desktops), they do have options for usb booting in the BIOS. Once you have that option enabled, you can boot from the usb floppy. But you had better check your specific pc before ordering.

I recieved mine today.

Very nice deal indeed. This drive is very fast for a floppy. I think what it does is buffer much of the disk and also reads fast as well.

I believe its faster than the floppy drive in my PC. I'm sure this will come in handy in the future for working on PCs without floppys or my next PC (which I'm not putting a 3.5" FDD in due to being a SFF).

I never wanted to spend alot to get one of these though since its use will be limited (yet incredibly useful when I need it).

I also received mine yesterday. Nice drive. Very fast. It is a little noisy, but we are talking about a floppy drive so I am not bothered by it. However, the blue cover doesn't fit real well. It falls off. The white cover fits good though.

I ordered it, but have as of yet to receive it. For free shipping, I am wondering when it will arrive.
