DEAD: Sony Blu-Ray drive $29.99 @ Newegg - 48 hrs only

Some of the 2009 feedback talks about getting PowerDVD 7.3, but I didn't see any software listed in the spec or description from Newegg.

PowerDVD 7.3 is 2ch audio, and apparently no Win7.

I use PDVD 7.3 on Windows 7. It has some quirks like needing to cancel registration every time I install it. That means once every 30 days I have to reinstall it because it won't save the registration for me. Also, only two channel analog audio is supported but all channels are supported over a digital interface.

Yup, won't even burn DVDs or CDs. I don't see in the description where it comes with PowerDVD of any version, only in the user reviews.

Hmmm, maybe I'll get this on the chance that it comes with the software, to upgrade my HTPC.

According to Microsoft PowerDVD 7.0 and 7.3 are compatible with Windows 7.

Remember that Newegg sometimes offers promotions such as "free software" during a move to push their drives.

These reviews that included free software were from August.

My guess is, that if it doesn't say or it's not on the picture description, it's not included.

from a feedback in newegg:

'After install PowerDVD 7.3, Rename the "OLRSubmission" folder to "Submission" in your installation to get rid of the registration popup'

nevermind, looks like your problem is a diff issue.

30$ is too good to be true... there is a reason why the price is 30$ instead of 50$ for a blueray writer so if you are buying this dont count on it lasting long. plus if you read under the description it is 2x. Use for dvd then yes 30$ is a good deal all though there are better brands for 20$

Its NOT a writer, play only. Its an end of year, old product, closeout, and no point in buying it if you don't want the BluRay playback.

I've never gotten a drive without software; even when it has not been listed it's always come with PowerDVD or WinDVD. Good luck guys.
