Office Depot Instore Special PNY 256MB PC133 RAM w/Norton Anti-Virus SKU# 228547 64.99 - 15.00 Instant Rebate = $49.99 until 2/2
add something for a penny.
-$15.00 off $50.00 Coupon... (Yeah it's out there... Good until 2/1/2001
-$15.00 PNY MIR good until 2/2/2002

SKU# shows up online @ $99.99 maybe order it over the phone?? That way you can use code but not have to worry about printed coupon.. I am going this Morning... after I get MOH:AA at CC :D

From the perspective recent history this is blazing hot. Considering current prices it's good. I checked this morning and RAM is disappearing from the staples, Office Depot, and Office max sites, the stuff that is there is expensive !!!.

Got one of this. The ram uses Infineon chipset similar to the one in Dell/Kingston brand. Good quality sdram.

Thanks for the tip. Here is my story:

It seems that this is an in-store only special, but not available at all stores. I went to my local OD and asked the guy if the had the memory/software combo as I did not see it in the case. In fact, they did have it, but I was looking for something larger given the software, but it is an OEM disc inside a fairly small box that looked like it contained just memory so I didn't see it.

I wanted to confirm the price, and he told me it was $99.99 less a $15 MIR. I told him that I had seen it listed for less online, and he offered to go to the OD site to check the price. I explained I had seen a link to the deal elsewhere, and he asked if it was at anandtech. I confessed that it was, and he went to anandtech and then got called away from another customer and asked me to find the deal. I found the post, went to OD and they had cookied the computer for their store, which listed NO IN STORE SPECIALS. I quick search for specials at other "nearby" stores (OK, it was across the country) found that this special was in all the CA stores. The fellow came back, saw the post and the window I had at OD's site listing the special and noted it was at another location, but said that "If we match other store prices, we'll have to match ours too." I was in business.

I went to checkout and grabbed a cheap item to get me over the $50 minimum for the $15 off coupon, and handed the cashier the memory, printout and clearance item. She asked the store manager to look at it, and he was quite confused. He finally got the tech guy to come down and explain it, and rang the memory up, but at $64.99 . When I pointed out one rebate was instant and the price was $49.99 another round of calls, SKU checking and general frustration ensued. Finally, the price was right at $49.99, but the entire other transaction was so confused he zeroed it out to start again. At that point, the casher rang it up, totaled it, but didn't mark down the clearance stuff, so it had to get rung again. While earlier I had given up hope of using the coupon, it was now 20 minutes later and the manager couldn't stop apologizing, gave me his card if I needed his help in the future, etc., so I decided to try the coupon (it was scanned and linked at FW but the UPC was removed by whoever scanned it) and the manager took the coupon without complaint.

The rebate printed out of the register, and I've now got another stick of cheap memory to put in the SV24 that I put together last night.

My suggestion is that you check online to see if the special is runnig at your store . . .if it is not, make a printout from a location where it is on sale (west coast seems good) and bring it with you and be prepared for the confusionl. I've learned that being good natured, friendly and apologizing for the confusion your coupons, pricematches, etc. goes much farther than trying to argue about it, and this is a case in point.

Thanks and good luck.

If you go here, you should be asked for you zip code. If you get a message that says there are no local sales, then it is not on sale . . .if you put in a different zip code, you'll see other store locations and you can check out their sales.

That is correct I just tried it and the price changes to $49.99 but, it gets taken out of my cart because there is none available.

I just got back from OD scored the very last stick of 256MB PC133 (Hynix Chips), there was one more 256MB PC100 stick and 2 128MB Sticks... I was actually shocked to walk up and see the RAM cabinet so empty......

I don't think they are restocking the stores anymore..... get there quick if you want this deal.

BTW: The receipt rang up for Regular price $129.99 :Q sale price $49.99.

Just got back w/ my sucessful ~$20 memory deal.

I would like to warn everyone before they go out with their printed coupon:
The nice manager told me that unless I have the original coupon, I cannot use it in store. This is actually printed right on the coupon, but I used to do this all the time; however, the manager recieved some sh!t over allowing this from the mothership (OD HQ) and now requires everyone to bring in REAL coupons.

Being the smart guy that I am :))) and knowing that the coupon could be used for in-store pickup, I asked a clerk to hand me a phone, dialed OD store, and made the in-store pickup order. Placed an order for three items: the actual memory and two items that were $.01 each to make it over the $50 needed for the $15of$50 coupon to work (note: these $.01 items were only avail at my local OD, they are like $7 reg price).

Deal == Success! YAY :D

Thanks Ziptar. I was able to order online with instore pickup. I found that its a good idea to put something else in your basket thats over 50; otherwise, the web site makes it very difficult to find a local store with it in stock. Basket is emptied, coupon disappears, can't change to delivery from pickup, etc.

Thanks to whoever up with the idea of changing the web order to in-store pickup to get the special. I have store nearby but HATE having to get there early enough to get the mdse in stock. Now they'll do it for me!
