Go to this vendor and buy the Lexmark E450dn B&W laser printer for $288 (with free shipping)
http://www.amatteroffax.com/Item.asp?INVID=1397334

Go here for the $300 mail in rebate (valid for purchases April 2, 2007 through June 30, 2007)

Of course I haven't gotten the rebate yet, but you can read the rebate yourself and see that "A Matter of Fax" IS a participating retailer. Also, the printer only comes with a starter toner cartridge (according to the retailer, however it says it's factory sealed and lexmark says it comes with a 6,000 page toner cartridge. unfortunately, the retailer is not available today), a full 11000 page cartridge will cost around $165.

Good luck and hope you enjoy!

The same deal was posted over the weekend with a couple of different vendors on the other hot deals forums and orders got canceled due to a claimed price error.
We'll see what happens with this one, but I'm willing to give it a try. 🙂

in the last step, make sure to include the "where i heard about it" or something like that, otherwise it won't allow you to submit your order. i put in google.com

that was it, thanks

I asked the Lexmark rebate center about this and they said you would only get the cost of the printer if its price was less than the rebate amount, not the full $300. So don't count on making money from the rebate.

They also said they're researching the "one rebate per model per name" terms since their copy of the rebate only said "one rebate per name" and it meant one or the other printer. It will take 3-5 days for an answer.

huh?

In general I don't see any grey area on this deal... am I missing something?

That would surprize me because most rebate places are not set up to do something like that.

Just send the packing invoice instead of the receipt with the rebate to ensure the full $300.

Even if you do send the receipt, Im pretty sure they will still mail the $300 check.

Now to convince myself I "need" this and can do without $300 for a few months.

No and generally they won't. The less people call in now, the better off we'll be. Call after the rebates get shipped if there's something wrong but otherwise just wait.
