Relative newcomer to SSD, although they have been selling flash drives through Newegg for a while.

What makes this SSD stand out, besides the price, is the fact that they are using Toggle NAND, and they offer 3 years of warranty, with an additional 2 years of warranty after registration at their web site.

Controller is the usual SandForce 2nd-gen.

How does this compare to the MX100?

SandForce versus Marvell (Crucial).

Toggle NAND (faster) versus Sync (still fast)

5-year warranty versus 3-year.

I don't know what the NAND endurance is of the 16nm used in the MX100, but it is very likely less than 3K.

Hmmm, thanks OP. This looks really attractive, especially compared to the MX100. I've been going back and forth on picking up a new SSD recently, this might push me over the edge.

Just so you don't get your hopes up too much, it's still "a SandForce drive", which is enough of a turn-off for some people.

Whats the rub with SF? Intel even had problems with 8MB bugs and whatnot. This is hot because their flash drives kick ass so Id totally jump on this if I needed one.

I do need an mSATA 240GB though, do they do mSATA?

I know what you mean, but honestly, Intel has proven Sandforce can be reliable with their 300/500 series drives (I have only seen one fail, and it was filled to capacity, always a bad idea for any drive)

OCZ is the company that gave Sandforce a bad rap. The only place Sandforce drives usually don't work well is laptops where sudden power outages, no DevSleep support, and generally high power consumption are issues. Many Sandforce drives are encased in plastic, too, causing them to run hot and possibly become unreliable without proper cooling.

This SP drive is a pretty good deal. It'll be faster than a MX100 in most usage scenerios but I wouldn't use it in a laptop or a media center (where you deal with a lot of compressed data, Sandforces achilles heel.)

It's awesome than $100 for 240GB is becoming the norm!

Yeah, for ocz it was more of a ocz prob than a sandforce prob. wouldnt hurt to wait for the next line of sf drives though. they look promising.

What company owns SandForce now? I don't remember. LSI bought them, but I thought that they got sold again. Toshiba bought OCZ, I know that much. Oh yes, and prior to the Toshiba acquisition, OCZ acquired Indilinx.

Seagate acquired LSI and Sandforce sometime back.
