I have read a couple of threads about modifying these to improve the midrage bass. You can pull off the ear cushions to reveal a couple of screws. Unscrew em, open the cups and line them with some Blu-Tack and close it back up.

i don't know much about headphones, but are these good for playing FPS games. i heard that these are better with a amp. anyway to hook a amp into a computer system?

i play CS alot with em, and while i havent had em for very long, i find em to be good. positioning is good, thouugh i have to get used to the vertical positioning (whether or not people are above or below). Thatll just take time.

Yes, that's the mod I was referring to, I was NOT kidding =) It's called Blu-Tak, or Blue-Tak, or something like that. It's supposed to absorb some of the higher frequency sounds that bounce off the plastic housing off the headphones, and improves treble, mid-bass, and makes bass more responsive or something.

Head on over to www.head-fi.org if you want to find some more info on this mod.

ok this sucks. They are located in Torrance, CA but are shipping from TN!
It may suck for you, but it's nice for me since I live in Indiana 🙂. I'll be sure to make a post about my order. Hopefully I'll have a good experience, unlike a lot of others on Resellerratings.com

Edit: My headphones just came in. Everything seems fine right now.

Just checked and these are still available. Doing research on the web, tons of people bought these for $99 and rave about them.

I have found that these work great for sound positioning in fps's, and are great for music too. The midbass is a bit weak, but some eq and the blu-tack mod should help.

One reason they have low ratings is because they had an obvious pricing error a while ago and didn't honor it, and people here had a hissy fit like teenage girl with pms and unfairly trashed their ratings . :frown:

I might get in on this deal.

I bought HD590s from Amazon.com for $99 shipped ($130-$30 VISA) and while I think THEY'RE THE MOST COMFORTABLE HEADPHONES EVER, they're a little too high-priced for me to justify keeping them. They're also open design which is annoying when used in the presence of others

With these, I can keep the $30 coupon for future amazon purchases.

Went to order a set of these, OOS, called to see when theyd be in, the Lady I spoke to said late jan, early feb and so far there was 70 on back order.

Good grief. I'm really frustrated right now.

I was online at PCMall.com putting an order for one of these and my order froze up twice at the "CC# validated, COmpleting order"
I finally called their customer service and they said there is NO record of my order. I asked to put the order over telephone. I told him to confirm the price for me and he said "$99.99". I said, it comes up as $59.99 + $5 tax online. Here, I'll show yo... uhhh it's $99.99 now. The thing changed inside my cart within a matter of MINUTES. I put in the order @ $59.99 but it never got recognized within the system, so both my orders never went through
The new CSR refused to give me the $59.99 price. He thought I was trying to cheat the company by getting the better price. I swore to him that I had placed 2 ordered at the aforementioned price with no result, but he didn't budge.

I'm emailing PCMall Customer Service. I will keep you all aprised, as well as Ars Technica's A/V forum.

Mine shipped on 1/3 but took until today to get to my house. They should be there when I get home tonight. Be patient.

Anyone have early reviews from their phones received from PCMall? I'll post mine after I've burned them in.

I got mine yesterday and right off the bat, the low bass is just amazing. The highs are kinda harsh, but I still have about 290 hours of burn-in to go. I'll probably do the blu-tak mod sometime soon too.

WTF, i ordered it on 12/31/04 and still no headphones or even another email except for the "Order Placed" email. I'm thinking I got burned... :|

They never sent me an email when mine shipped. You have to check the order status on their website.

These are a great pair of headphones. Excellent sound quality (best I've ever heard) and I love the passive noise cancelling properties. Great for LAN parties. The only downside is the weight and the fit might take a little while to get used to. Thumbs up.

OMG OMG OMG, scratch that!!!! Came today! Wow!!!! They're more than good, they're grrrrrreat!

That being said wtf is up with the squareish look when its on the head, not something you really want to walk around with...
