I was ready to preorder but my wife said she didn't want the new one. 😱 She's happy using her cracked screen iPad2.

I'm content with my Galaxy Nexus, 7" Galaxy Tab, and CM9 Touchpads. My daughter rarely uses her iPad1 anymore. She prefers her iPod Touch. I think this might be the first iPad I skip.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/technology/demand-for-the-ipad-3-soars-ahead-of-launch-event/2012/03/05/gIQAPEuTuR_story.html

Just under 30 percent of respondents said that they intend to buy an iPad 3, and 44 percent of respondents said they wouldn’t consider any other brand of tablet.

Waiting for porn. 😀

I won't be buying one. Still waiting for tablets to evolve a bit more before I get one for myself.

I'm considering skipping this generation unless something about Apples announcement just blows me away. I really don't want to bother with unloading my iPad 2, but that's the only way I could justify making such a purchase right now.

Would be interesting to ask this question again tomorrow, when we actually know what the iPad 3 actually is. And then compare the differences, see how many people change their minds either way. 😉

Good point, will do another poll tomorrow night.

I've heard rumors of a "one more thing" and it's codename is "B28" a search for B28 reveals it's a name for a flipping air to ground nuke from the cold war. Am putting that in the rumors I'll have to see to believe file 🙂

It's going to depend on just how much is changed and how future proof I think it is for iOS 7.

If the A5X is a dual-core speed bump with a SGX543MP4, I think I'll pass and buy a clearance iPad 2 and wait on the A6, which will hopefully be a A15 chip.

If the A5X is quad core, I'll pick it up. The screen alone, however, wouldn't be quite enough for me to choose the 3 over the two.

I'm waiting for a different tablet but I'm not sure exactly what I want. I'd like pen input however the Thinkpad Tablet and Galaxy Note are both 10" and I'd rather have something smaller and lighter than that. I like the price and specs of the Galaxy Tab 7.0+ however I'm also not sure if I want another 7" 1024x600 tablet (I have a Nook Color now). The Galaxy Tab 8.9" is a nice size and is reasonably priced but I'm not sure if I really want Tegra 2 at this point.

The screen alone, however, wouldn't be quite enough for me to choose the 3 over the two.

Keep in mind, that for many posters here, the screen is the Be All, End All. The other specs are borderline irrelevant. Only the display matters.

it could come with free unlimited 4g and a puppy and i still wouldnt be buying one. not because its an apple product, but because i cant justify spending that kind of cash on a toy i know wont get used as much as it should. the same reason for not buying an android tablet at all either.

no, TBH i have no real use for any tablet, they really dont offer me anything

i have the OG EEE pad transformer and i pretty much only use it to play angry birds on the toilet

In for one so I can sell it to some tool 1 week after they sell out for 10x the price. J/K......if the screen is really really REALLY that much improved then I may get one just for netflix streaming, but ONLY if it can stream netflix in HD like my droid razr.

If screen is improved, it's 50% there.
If SoC is a higher-clocked version of the A5 by a good margin, and the GPU is improved, it's 60% there.
If it has 1GB of RAM or more, it's 75% there.
If it's lighter, it's 85% there. (yeah, right)
If it has more battery life, it's 99% there.
If it does something different compared to the iPad 2, I'll be in 100%. 🙂

What exactly do you guys do on your iPad1&2's that require quad core? My gf has an iPad one she brings home from school, and I haven't been able to find anything that makes me think it is in anyway slow or inadequate. The only thing I saw that I wouldn't mind being a little faster was initial game load times, but in reality, I don't think the load time was slow at all.

Not to mention, there are very few programs for the computer that can benefit from quad core, and quad core has been out for a long time. Most programmers just don't see a benefit in programming for that many threads.

Is it just the juice inside you, like when car owners put in a k&n filter cause it gives them an estimated 1.2 HP?

A tablet is a convenience, not a necessity. I'm still waiting until they get down to commodity pricing. Kindle Fire is getting pretty close. Right now they're still a novelty and companies are charging novelty prices for them. I've got my phone for email and web on the go, and a desktop for real computing.

Waiting for XXX

I'm waiting to see what iOS6 brings (if they announce it). Otherwise I'll get a Macbook Air.

nope, my ipad 2 is more than enough for what i need

only way i'll do it is if i can sell my 64gb wifi and apple drops the price to where i break even

don't you need a 5GHz quad core to check your email and listen to music? one core for email and one for playing a mp3?

Waiting for XXX - specifically a USB3 port. I'm sure it will never happen. I guess that makes it a qualified "no." 🙂

USB3? lol what? USB is kind of a fat I/O. Is there a mini USB3? Onboard flash isn't all that fast either so I'm not sure if giving it usb3 will change much.
