Honestly, I can't bite. I sent back two 1.5tb's three different times. I finally sold one sealed after RMA, but the other one needs RMAd again!
Everyone says "old firmware, problem fixed", but I sent back those very drives claimed to be fixed.

You have to make sure you're getting the drives with the latest firmware, or more accurately the firmware fix. The initial release of the drives, starting with the 1.5TB, was really horrendous. I was one of those customers with 2 defective out of the box drives, receive another 2 defective replacements direct from Seagate and it wasn't until they realized and admitted there was something wrong that I received two working drives.
The firmware in the 2TB drives should be ok as they should have taken what they've learned from the 1.5TB. That is a "should." I have 2 of the these and they are fine. Whatever defects they might also have I've no idea.
As with any HD mfg, you're always bound to get duds.
