[DEAD] *SCORCHING HOT* Kingston 256 MB (SD)

I can't believe no one caught the fact that it was a referral link until now. The FIRST thing I did when I entered the thread was hover my mouse over the link to see where it was from, especially since the OP carelessly left the store info out of the post topic where it should have been.

The funny thing is after hovering my mouse over the link..... I STILL didn't know where the heck I could buy this SD card from. So I had to click the link which had the html of...

click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=5a5YuMxr23w&offerid=63348.10001237&type=1&subid=0

have you never bought from buy.com?? thanks for the warning, but i'm going on ahead w/ it. thanks OP

I've bought from them twice before (2003, router and a KVM, very good deals) without problems. I just ordered this SD card, but am not sure it went through. I cancelled out of the ensuing page with the $25 coupon, thinking I didn't want to get involved with that. Didn't get a confirmation screen so it appeared it might not have happened. No confirming email yet. Hmmm. Well, it came up as "processing" on the page for My Account, so it's a go.

Thanks OP, and others. I pay tax, but <$9.00 for a 256 MB SD card seems too good to pass up. I have one already (also a Kingston, bought in January 2004 and the best price I could find was at ecost.com, $74.64!), but can use this as backup and put it in my digicamcorder that came with an 8 MB, has the 32 MB from my digicam, currently.

I'm not scared of rebates. I always get my money (I keep track in a database), except for one time with Intuit when the fine print on the box said you had to mail it in within 30 days of purchase. Guess the bastards knew that most people put off doing their taxes.

1/2 hour later it still says "pending" and I haven't gotten a confirmation email. I guess it's not a sure thing this'll go through.

Edit: Got my email confirmation.

Got a tip from a guy back in January or so in this forum that you can get free-after-rebate deals on SD, etc. card readers at OfficeMax every two weeks or so. Worked for me back then at B&M. Probably works now.

Thanks OP. Picked up some manga too with free shipping 😀

What's manga?

My only problem with Buy.com was with a rebate. I purchased 2 Fuji cameras from them and they wouldn't give me the $50 rebate on both of them. They gave me one but denied the other due to not using the original receipt. I sent both rebates in together with the receipt that clearly showed I purchased 2 on the same order.

Anyone who hasn't done this yet I would caution you that you may not get that second rebate.

If contemplating getting two, it would seem to be best to make two separate orders, therefore. Then, presumably, you will have two separate packing slips that you can submit in two separate envelopes. I'm thinking about ordering a second myself. Thanks for the headsup, RedWolf.

That may not be a good idea. Rebate form:
"If applying for more than one rebate, all submissions must be enclosed in same envelope.
Multiple submissions mailed separately will be denied."

Anyone received a shipping notice? Mine is still showing "sent to warehouse"

I'm wonidering if this will work in my Kodak DC4800 camera? It's been so long i can't remember what kinda cards it takes lol. I really need to upgrade to a better camer soon. Anyone know if it'll work?

Funny you should ask, I just recently sold my DC4800, it takes CF not SD.

Guess i should sell mine as well as i have yet to be impressed with the picture quality under any circumstances. I upgraded the firmware on it and did a few other things from some postings on
forums about poor pic quality but no go. =-/

thanks for the reply

I ordered a transflash card from them in August, they had it advertised in stock but the order wasn't shipping. I finally cancelled it and ordered from Amazon, only to have the Buy.com order show up a week later. That was my only bad experience with them.

ahhh another 710 owner, the same thing happened to me, i found the best way for you to get buy.com to ship your item, is to cancel it. happened to me TWICE on a modem, and the tflash

hmmm odd i could have sworn i posted in this thread earlier, did i get deleted? im not in here purely to crap on buy.com the deal was a great deal. im just suggesting if people care about the speed in which it arrives to pay for shipping. buy.com has some great deals even if you have to pay for shipping, ive purchaced a great router, and some speakers through em for CHEAP. the only prob is, good luck finding a phone # for em, i found 1 but it took heavy digging on some random forum, and the guy said it was to india and he said the guy on the other end had little to no power to help him.

Think Japanese comic books. Except these are translated into English.

Edit: Hmm ok my books shipped but my SD card order is still processing 😛

Is it me or did the price go back up? I'm lucky I've already got mine ordered!! 🙂

Yes, price went back up, and the original $15 rebate is done now...I think there is a $12 one now though.

I ordered Tuesday night. Wednesday it went to "Shipped" status, and I got a USPS tracking number laster in the day on Wednesday.

However, I have been trying since Wednesday evening to get the status on the tracking number through buy.com and USPS and they are both telling me it is not yet a valid tracking number.

Any ideas on this one?

Thanks,
K

That's USPS for ya.

There is hope for the USPS, mine arrived today. Rebate form sent. It will be free after the $5 kingston coupon (USB drive fiasco) and $5 gift certificate (whining to CSR about kingston fiasco).
