how is the newgroups with SBC DSL 6mbit/608? Are there alot of incomplete? or do they limit you in anyway?
I have roadrunner cable, and for the most part its great with no limits so just wondering because i do want to swithc but not if i can't download anything....
pretty awful. they don't carry most binary groups, the ones they do you'd be lucky to average 50% completion. only useful for text and occasionally easing the load on pay accounts.
Do they still have the 128kbps cap?

I thought SBC dropped binaries altogether back in 2002 when Prodigy took over running their news servers.
hehe or you could go for an extra 15$ /month with dslextreme which has 2x 256kbps connections to Supernews (no speed caps in getting headers), binaries that have a 1-2 week retention (I can retrieve some binaries from Feb.01).

Only gripe I have is that the connection varies througout the day, usually it slows down in the afternoon (5-7k/sec) and it sometimes times out.
