Dead Rising 2 PC, now with more zombies than the console version...alot more!

I've been playing a lot of Dead Rising 2 on the PC this morning, and I happened to hop on Justin.TV to see who was broadcasting, and there was a dude streaming his XBox 360 Dead Rising 2 game. Pretty much stunned at how much open space there is in the 360 version compared to the PC version, which is usually wall-to-wall zombies. This guy was just strolling around, occasionally being cornered by 2-3 walking dead, while on PC I'm constantly having to either kill 5-6 at a time or keep jumping to avoid them.

I guess Capcom did by PC gamers right this time for sure, even at 1920x1080 w/ everything maxed and twice as many zombies as the console version, the game runs without a hitch. Well worth the $40.

i've been keeping my eyes on this one. will probably pick it up during the holiday sale. what game can you compare to this?

Do you really need a controller to play it on the PC? I ended up getting it for the 360, but I assumed the PC might be better in aspects like graphics, but be worse in that you might need a controller :\.

Works great with a mouse/kb. I'm using a 360 gamepad, but I did play a bit with the mouse/kb and it's fine.

Only $40 new, $20 less than the console versions.

I dunno what I'd compare it to, thousands of slow moving zombies in a giant Vegas-like setting, the ability to combine all kinds of items together to make better stuff that gives you more PP points, a leveling system that allows you to get stronger and carry more, decent popcorn story.

It's just all kinds of kickass to be sure.

What's crazy, is that I didn't know Dead Rising 2 had already been released. What's even CRAZIER is that I had no idea it was being released for PC. Now I am extremely intrigued. I always wanted to play Dead Rising for the Xbox 360 but I never did.

Been spending too much on video games though. I wish I had bought this instead of Civ 5. Oh well, eventually...

tried dead rising 2... didn't seem to be my cup of tea.. I guess because of the countless hours I spent on L4D and L4D2

Any other zombie game. Dead Rising's big thing is that you can pick up a vast assortment of random every day items and use them as weapons against the zombies. It can be humorous, but the first one got old after a while. Unless the second one has a much better story line, I don't see it being much different in that aspect.

I guess there is multiplayer and co-op in the Dead Rising 2; it could have quite a bit more replay value than the first, assuming that the multiplayer and co-op are done properly.

I get no sound once I get to the safehouse and you get the walkie-talkie. Really odd issue because when I go back to the title screen there is sound! Even more wacky is that the sound is perfect when I use my headphones (teknmotion headphones) as it uses its own driver. I have a x-fi sound card if that matters.

I also had to use a 360 pad emulator because the game doesn't recognize wireless 360 pads.

<sigh>

I preloaded on Sunday. Will try to play a little tonight. I played the 1st one on 360, but quit after a while because I kept dying in the same spot due to terrible aiming accuracy. Hopefully I can aim better on PC.

If I have 1 complaint about the game it's that the boss battles are ungodly hard for no real reason. A coked up CURE member with a piece of glass kicking my ass when I'm firing round after round from a shotgun into him? I dunno, seems silly in that regard.

Then again, it's in line with the first one.

Otherwise, definitely one of my favorite, if not my favorite game that's come out this year.

I really enjoyed the first one and am going to pick this one up but not for a while. Have too much else to play before because of Steam deals.

Boss Fights in 1 were ungodly hard. I was able to beat a few bosses for my friend...yet couldn't walk through the mall without dying. Lol. That motorcycle bitch was...well..a bitch though.

Been enjoying the game - but the bug with it not detecting wireless xbox 360 controllers has me bummed....

\hopefully they'll fix it soon.

Doesn't this game have time limits and checkpoints?

I hate check points with a passion. Let me save when I want dammit. I also hate time limits...no fun if you're feeling rushed all the time.

There is not much of a checkpoint system in this game, except inbetween each chapter/sub chapter. If you want to save at any given time, you have to run to the nearest restroom and save the game progress there. But the time limits are pretty bad as they rush you with multiple side quests along with your main to complete. So far I'm 2 hours in and I have yet to find time to explore the map yet. I've been just following the arrows to get from place to palce, and escort survivors back to safe point.

Yeah I was thinking of picking this one up but am concerned about time limits...I generally hate timed portions of games etc and if the whole game is timed.....

Well if it's any consolation there is a trainer to freeze time so you can mess around in the entire map without time penalty.

And now I remember the other reason I quit the first game. Time limits. I really hate not being able to play at my own pace. Just failed because I was about 30 seconds over the limit for the last part of case 1. Going to be a while before I finish this one.

Ah...I just really hate the slow running. Love mowing down zombies...but doing it so slowly. I need a controller too.
