but no complain... for $49

slow bootup? Try a soyo dragon + with a raid setup. It's at least twice as long before getting the windows screen.

put one in your shopping cart and change the qty to 99. If there are less than 99 available the actual inventory will show.

I just bought one of these for $41 and upgraded my P3 computer with it without any issues. It was factory refurbished and had all of the accessories (i.e. extra usb ports) included too. I'm real happy with it so far.:)

I got one of these refurbished boards a couple of months ago, and mine came with all the retail goodies - cables, drivers, extra usb ports.
I've been using it ever since, and have not had a single problem with it.
A great board IMHO

Well I got my 1st NewEgg screwin.

I ordered the MSI Nforce board (refurbished) and got JUST that. The board was packed in a FedEx box and then they put a refurbish PS that I bought on top of it.

Anyhow, that's ALL I got. No manual, no cables, no driver CD, no USB header, NOTHING.

I'm pretty pissed as the board new is $120 and the refurb is $80. Heck there's $40 worth of junk that they left out not to mention a REAL warranty. I called in and they said that the refurbs ONLY come with the board.

I purchased an Epox from them without anything missing.

Any ideas, suggestions ?!

I'm thinking of sending it back anyhow. Heck it could be legite as I doubt the thing works after having a PS bounce up and down on it from the West coast to the Mid west.

nino,
I don't know if you would call it a screwin, you did after all buy a refurb and their policy states clearly that(MB only), but I understand the issue with the PSU in the same box(hopefully they were both secured away from eachother). Some people just get lucky to have everything, I will find out if I am one of the lucky ones tomorrow. Sorry to hear about it, good luck with what you decide to do.

That's what happens when you buy a "refurb" or really, a customer return. You are playing with your odds that the returned "refurb" comes with everything you had hopped for. If not, tough luck, you bought into it.

I don't believe there are refunds on refurbished items.

newegg refurbs are certainly luck of draw - if you don't like the gamble, look at the compgeeks KG7 RAID for $49 thread Not to start a flame war (epox v. abit), but arguably comparable products w/ both boards being great overclockers. Epox probably more reliable (new) but w/ the refurb angle and a question as to what parts (and/or problems) will come with, I might lean to the KG7.

I would like to say that NOWHERE did it say MOTHERBOARD ONLY.

It said OEM BAREBONE and I've purchased a LOT of OEM parts but NEVER has a simple manual or driver CD been absent. When does OEM mean nothing else?

Their terms even said to talk to the manufacturer about what is included although they could have been talking about NEW and not OEM boards. SO, I called MSI and they pretty much told me that I could get ANY construction with ANY accessories so that wasn't much help.

I don't think that this is kosher.

My question is..

How can OEM Barebone mean "includes everything" to most but means "includes board only" to a "special few"?

I'd like to start seeing responses from others who got JUST the board.

It was working great for 1 1/2 days and then it started crashing every 1-2 hours then every 1/2 hour. After about 5 crashes it would get stuck in posting and the error code was a "bios checksum" problems, so I have to reset the cmos just to boot it now.

I think the board is a factory refurb from epox, but there's no doubt its used since the screw mount holes have been scuffed up. Call me thin skinned but this is prolly my last refurb mobo (even tho it was my first). Its not worth the hassle when it comes to installing and uninstalling the mobo, along with any down time during shipping.

O.K. I got totally SCREWED as the refurbed powersupply was dead and so was the mobo.

Who the hell checks this stuff out anyway? I called NewEgg and they said that some of the refurbs are from the factory and some are customer returns. My question is: Who the He!! is qualified at NewEgg to REALLY check this stuff out? I'm sure that they don't have the equipment or the expertise to verify these returned items. There is NO possible way that they could have and expert that is qualified to verify all the different mobos, PSs, and host of other crap that they sell as refurbed. They should be honest and call it what it is:

Stuff that got returned and we didn't test, or even, stuff that someone used and had problems with but we thought was O.K.

Anyhow, I'm a little (just a little) upset and I'm going to see what they are going to do to make it right. Worst case, I'll send the complete $250 order back to them and have my Visa fight for me as this is a flagrant case of consumer fraud. Oh, and I'll continue to flame them every time someone posts a refurbed NewEgg deal so that they are aware of what they might get !!!

Dude, I'm not familiar with that board, but isn't that an awesome deal??? I've never seen the 761 chip have 4 ram slots too, only two. Someone confirm this please before I jump in. :)

I am 1 for 1.

First Refurb MB i bought was great and besides the missing cables and any manual (which I didn't expect BEACUSE I READ THE TERMS BEFORE I BUY! Nino)

Second was one of the Epox boards with Raid. Looked like new and was working fine... until I tried flashing. No no I know how to do it.... but the darn Floppy wouldn't work and give me Disk I/O errors.

  • Check different floppy Disk check
    Check different floppy Drive check
    Check different floppy Cable check
Mannage to Flash Bios via Bootable CD check
    Run Floppy Checks again check
    No go :(

So it is going back on Monday. Pain... but I knew what I get myself into.

Hi Karston,

Yourself and many others in this group JUST DON'T GET IT !

I have no problem ordering a refurbed part but GOD ALMIGHTY don't call it a REFURB if you haven't even tested it. Don't you guys get it ?!

They aren't refurbed at all. I am 1 for 4 with NewEgg refurbs (anyone want to go to Vegas with me :) ).

You have to be an idiot to not test a power supply before selling it as a refurbed. C'mon guys, I am NOT asking too much here.

WHY YOU SHOULD NOT BUY A NEWEGG REFURB

Here's my experience with the last shipment...
a) get mobo and PS and install in case.
b) no boot
c) put back in original mobo as surely they tested the ps before shipping and so that couldn't be the problem.
d) still no boot
e) put in original PS and original board
f) still no boot
g) put in original board
h) no problem.

How long do you think it takes to do all this? I wasted 3.5 hours. Now NewEgg states that on refurbs that the buyer should pay for shipping back. Wait a second, I have to pay because you guys didn't test it and sent me a DOA part. Shouldn't I be charging you for doing your quality tests. My rate is about $30/hr so that means NewEgg owes me +$100 so as you can see, getting a refurb from them is NOT worth it. Maybe it is me but w/3 orders and being 1 for 4 items I can't see me doing that. We Italians have a saying,

Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me. Needless to say I feel pretty shameful but there won't be a third time.

I'll be getting a hold of VISA as a refurbished item is defined as (by M-W):
Main Entry: re·fur·bish
Pronunciation: ri-'f&r-bish
Function: transitive verb
Date: 1611
: to brighten or freshen up : RENOVATE

Definition for RENOVATE:
1 : to restore to a former better state (as by cleaning, repairing, or rebuilding)
2 : to restore to life, vigor, or activity : REVIVE <the church was renovated by a new ecumenical spirit>

Definitely NOT 1 or 2.

From NewEgg website:
"Important: Your order contains refurbished items. Please read the follow before you proceed.

Refurbished Items
Refurbished products are products that contain components that have been owned by other clients and returned to NewEgg.com, Newegg.com guarantees all refurbished products for 30 days only. CPUs will only have 7 days for refund. All refurbished items are considered OEM "barebone" parts.

Barebone means you will only receive the item by itself, no other accessories. It will not contain any cable, adaptor, manual, CD, drivers, fan, etc. "

Nino is definitely right on what a refurb SHOULD be, NewEgg unfortunately doesn't seem to test their
returns. I hope none of you get my DOAed Abit KR7A-133Raid that I RMAed. At least they give you a 30 day window of guarantee to get the money back. Although it really sucks that its 20 days or so only to test and use. They should test their products but don't, and as long as people agrre to buy with hopes of it working(like me) it will probably always be that way

******Lets all mark our defective newegg mobo's on the underside with a black marker, making 2 black dots next to each other, near a corner, so we know if they are reshipping the same defective items. We can track them this way and call them on it if they ship us the same mobos!!**********
