oh man, this forum rules

I seriously just got on my computer about 10 minutes ago and something on the back of my head was just telling me to check the anandtech hotdeal forum (I usually only check it twice a week)...and low and behold I saw this thread.

jumped on the website and ordered one. 5 seconds after I put the first one in my cart, I tried to open up another page and the deal was already dead. But I successfully placed an order for one.

Thanks OP!! Hopefully I get mine...if so, it'll be awesome that i didn't have to wait in line in the freezing cold for hours to get it 🙂
 
if is shows $599 preorder what are these things going to sell for...just curious as I am not intersted in buying one
 
It's going to be $599 for awhile if you can get them local, else go to eBay and spend anywhere from $1,400 to $3,000. The average seems to be around $1,500 on eBay.
 
Does anyone know - or have a best guess - just how rare these are going to be after the initial release? I got in on this (thanks OP!) but I don't think I want to keep it.

Is it expected to sell out quick, driving up the EBay prices or are there going to be enough coming to market to make this a money loser for resell.

Since I can't offer it for pre-sale on EBay, due to the account restrictions - to few feedback in my 100% 🙁 - I'm thinking of canceling my pre-order so that I don't get stuck with a $600 system that I can't sell.

Opinions?

You'll still be able to unload it on ebay after you pick it up.

my pre-order appears as if it's going through...they sent me an email about an hour after my order saying the item is 'backordered' but that it would be shipped within the next 1-2 weeks as soon as the item arrives.

Crossing my fingers though

 
In the fatwallet thread, someone just called best buy and the csr read off a bulletin where best buy will "no longer be taking preorders," which means there's a good chance our orders may go through after all!

i think that people that ordered more than one will only have one honored though...i heard someone with a black card ordered like 1xx last night lol
 
These CSRs are totally retarded. They sound like the same idiots you get when you call Dell's tech support.

All they do is read the order that you placed. The person I talked to spent a couple minutes going over the order "PS3 System ABC" he even said ABC. Couldn't answer any questions, and made zero sense. I know kids in junior high that made more sense than the CSR. What an IDIOT.
 
Well, judging by the website, those CSRs might be correct. The preorder says "coming soon" implying that it's not over, and that the people who got in were there based on a fluke.

Whether or not BB will honor the preorders made thus far is anyone's guess. I'm hoping they open upa ll of those slots because I want one for myself and missed out 😛. Unlike the rest of the assholes, I will NOT be selling it on ebay (unless there's a known, bad hardware glitch, in which case I'd rather make quick profit than go through the hassal of a potential return).

I'm going to be one of those assholes (I hope) that will take advantage of other assholes with WAY too much money. My wife works at a retail store so we're on the list to get one if the store recieves enough! Thanks for financing my christmas this year ebay!

BestBuy Corporate has confirmed that the pre-orders will be cancelled.
Call 1-612-291-1000 to confirm what I said is true
