I'm pretty sure this is a decent deal since they are supposed to retail for $9.99 and they were out of stock since around November. I had just ordered a pair yesterday for $11 someplace else when I came across this deal. <now kicking meself>
PcMods

FYI: There's a biggass thread over on hardforums discussing this new model.

Hmm... tempted to buy one as well... Been using my original ratpad for a good 3 years now...

Wonder if shiping is cheaper if you buy a couple of them... If so, anyone in the CA S.Bay Area wanna do a group order?

Yes if you order a bunch you get very reasonable shipping per item. I ordered 9 and the shipping came to $9.80 so pretty close to $1 for each.

I'm in San Jose, I think I'll do two for me, one for a friend, that way it comes out to be like $30 which is more reasonable.

Damn, I just ordered a func 1030 mouse pad for $25 from Newegg cause no one had ratpadz in stock. Wish I waited 🙁

Shipping is an absolute joke on this product. Shipping costs of $7.40, coupled with the increase in price to $8.49, converts this deal to luke warm.

I live in Cupertino, if you can get enough orders to bring down the total cost I would be interested.

if you're only purchasing one pad, shipping is a joke. however, the more you order, the more reasonable it is. UPS/Fedex do have a min price they charge on all orders, so it's not like PCmods is making a killing on shipping. shipping via USPS would probably be a lot cheaper, but they make it quite a bit more difficult to set up bulk mailing/tracking/insurance.

explain to me how this is better for my optical mouse, as i don't see how its any better than my freeby cloth topped rubber pad from expo show 🙂 had it for 4 years now and still looks new.

I ordered 2 before the price hike. I've heard this is the best pad for gaming. I hope it's better than a POS 3M Precision Pad "for optical mice" I bought last week. I knew within 5 seconds of trying the 3M that it was going back. If you want your mouse to skip, buy a 3M.

I have a prototype Ratpadz GS, that I got from Kyle Bennet at QuakeCon.

1. Works fine with LED mice.
2. Much lighter weight than the previous version.
3. It isn't like the previous versions, with the plastic stuff then with sanded edges. This new one seams much cheaper basically it is molded hard plastic very diffrent. The mouse still glides along but I like the older ones as it is heivier weight and feels a lot more substancial.

A cloth topped rubber (not foam... big difference) pad is better for an optical mouse than anything else I've tried so far, including Ratpadz and Everglide.

The ratpadz and everglides reduce the friction between the mouse and the pad, thus putting less strain on your wrist, and offering quicker reflexes. I live by my 4 year old attack pad, and if it werent for insane shipping I would have bought one.
