I'm in. CompUSA in Potomac Mills pricematched to Best Buy in Springfield. I couldn't get them to give me the $40 IS on top of PM. So $129.99 out the door. Getting the PM and IS would be a feat of social engineering the likes of which would require the most incompotent CSR staff on Earth. Oh well.

LOL I had my mom go in to the store and hand the phone to the CSR so I could explain it to him.

I am using coolbits, its easy to find online. It makes a tab for itself in the Detonators, I don't know if it will work with the PNY custom drivers since I don't use manufatures drivers. Getting 310/545 OC and looping SS SE for 5 hours. Not bad for $100 after rebate.

just got it pricematched at Circuit City from Best Buy for $199 pm'd to 129 - 10% (110% price match guarantee from circuit city) and it came out to about 130. No rebate for me, but i think 130 is still a good price. i wish i could get in on that rebate but blah.

On a side note, i bought the card and opened it up to see what was inside and i saw a card with one vga port, no s-video or dvi out, and no heatsink/fan on the card. I go back inside and show them what i got and they gave me another one. Looks like someone tried scamming circuit city (successfully) before me. Circuit City got screwed twice today!

Yes, Radeon 8500 is a GF3 level card, and by any benchmark this card beats Radeon 8500 by at least 20% to 30%.

Absolute Nonsense. That is OLD news with OLD drivers. The 8500 has pulled even with the Ti4200 in the latest benchmarks - it even beats it at the highest resolutions. If you have any doubts check out General Hardware (I'll give just ONE link - there are more if you search). Tom's article is from April . . . Sharkey's is from September. Update your data.

The 8500 and Ti4200 at SharkeyExtreme.

The 64Mb version of the 4200 is slower than the 128MB Radeon 8500 (which ALSO O/C's well) . . . That said, the Ti4200 is a fine card and at an awesome price. ;)

:)

EDIT: Johnbear007, EITHER the 4200 or the 8500 is an excellent upgrade choice from the Radeon 64 DDR VIVO!

Hey,
Does anyone know if this deal is still running? I need to run down to BB to pick up some of that PNY ram and I wasn't sure if this was a weekly special that ended Saturday or if it was still going. Any info is appreciated, thanks.

I went on 9/21 and the BB in Columbus, OH was sold out. I asked the associate if they had any at other Columbus locations. He said no but that I could order from the wharehouse with free shipping and I would get it in 3-5 days. So I'll be getting mine in a few days. It was 129.97 - $30 MIR too. He did confirm that it was the last day of the deal.

so this deal is over? Darn I think I procrastinated too long and missed the boat. I was thinking I should hold out for a 128 MB card... should I wait for 128 MB?

I went to the Los Feliz BB on Saturday. They were all out so I asked the guy for a Price Verification sheet, but he said it would only print out the online price of $199, so he sold me one from the warehouse at the $129 price with Saturday's date on the receipt so I can cash in on the rebate. Should be able to pick up the actual card by Thursday. Worked out okay. I'm hoping this will be a significant upgrade over my Hercules 3D Prophet II GTS 64 MB card. If it's not, I'll shoot myself and blame you guys :)

have you played ut2003 demo yet?

my card only goes to 300/545 before i get artifacts in ut2003 demo :(

looks like not all cards are built the same, even if it's the same brand

Hi Wei2Cool,
I can hit 310/540 in Serious Sam SE and let it loop for hours but at 310/545 it will only run for about 20 min. and then it just locks, no warning or artifacts. I wonder if Serious Sam is just a special case; I sure don't know. I was hoping for a bit higher on the memory like 575 + . I can run 310/565 in Midtown Madness 2 but I am not sure that counts . I have ut2003 demo so I will have to see what the limmits are there as well.

Update: 310/560 in UT2003 demo no artifacts.

Does anyone know if this deal is happening this week as well? I see it in the online ad for 169.00 - 30.00 MIR = 139.00. Is it still showing in the stores at the lower price? I am 45 mins from a Bestbuy. Thanks

Yup... it seemed stable for 30 minutes until I got bored at 315/500. I can go to 315/600 but I see little dots jumping around on the last 3dmark test.

Can anyone confirm whether this PNY card can run multiple monitors, one on DVI and one on standard analog VGA? I can't get a clear answer from anybody.

Thanks!
