DEAD: PNY 6600GT AGP $99 AR ($40) @ Newegg

ha ha... guess I won't be standing outside of BB for black friday. AWESOME deal. Jumped on it like a pedophile on a 5 year old.

I was considering BB ATI X700 Pro deal but after looking at some benchmark, this is a no brainer.

btw, I have Antec Sonata with original power supply. Will this be enough for 6600GT ?

Heh same here. Doesn't the sonata have a 350w psu? Should be fine. This card also comes with dual DVI and HDTV connectors. Def a no brainer compared to the X700 pro.

Thank you from me also. I'm another person who was considering buying the ATI card at BB on Black Friday, but I really, really hate BF sales, especially when they are a zoo like at BB. I haven't been to one in a couple of years and now won't go tomorrow. This coupled with Staples online BF sale is good enough for me.

Thanks op. I'm not quite up on the specs of the 6600GT. Is it really a no brainer? I just saw an article that said the X700 Pro falls roughly between the GF 6600 and the 6600GT. Is that fairly accurate ? I appreciate the heads-up. I like newegg way better than BB. And for me, the no wait in line thing is a no brainer. Thanks all.

Yeah it's a no brainer. I'm an ATI fan but this round def goes to Nvidia. Check out the Anandtech test. The X700 pro is only slightly better performing than a 9800pro. At best, the 6600GT spanks it across the board. At worst, it's a tie. And it's got dual DVI and HDTV connectors. Something the X700 is lacking.

LOL at this "review": Fire?
mine caught on fire like a month after i bought it and now it doesnt work, anyone know the cause of this? :

Still gave it a 5/5!! Seriously though, nice find OP.

You people buying it for a HTPC-look at the reviews-comments about the loud fan seem pretty consistent. Same thing for the ATI x700.

Just wanted to let you guys know of a couple of things if you are planning on using this with an HTPC

#1 - this card does not have VIVO, but it does have component outs via a breakout dongle for non-DVI HDTV's.

#2 - every review I've read says that the stock fan on this is very noisy.

For $50 more, a better choice might be the MSI version which is $148 after a $30 rebate. It does include a full VIVO breakout box (component outs included) and is known to have a very quiet fan.

I wont be able to hear the fan over the monsters and guns
great for agp
closest competitor is the x700 for 100 after 100 rebate - not
