Ordered two to two different addresses/names. Got FOUR big boxes. Two boxes with a report folder and the receipt in them, the other two with the memory. LOL.

Oh BTW, all were Spectek 2100 chips. I might take them to my local store and see if I can swap them out for some 2700.

1GB memory, might wanna invest in 512mb sticks. it's really recommended that if u go over 2 or 3 sticks of ram, to use registered memory.

OD just delivered. I got Specteck 7.5 (DDR266) memory. Oh well, $8 for 256mb of memory, delivered to my door, is still a pretty righteous deal.

Mine came today on the Spectek chip all I see is -6A on the bottom right hand corner of the chip,does that mean it is a 2700 or a 2100?

6A should be 2700 but with Spectek it definitely is ymmv but should run at 2100 just fine

I have had a few problems with Ebates working when using a coupon that wasn't from Ebates, I do not remember if it was OD, OM , or Staples, try it worst case you will not get the Ebates, but it will be no problem with the coupon.

I just got back from scouring my local area (So. Cal., Orange Co.) for PNY 2700 modules (in the 2100 pkg.) and this is what I found; I went to:

3 Circuit Cities, 3 Staples, 2 Office Depots, 1 Best Buy, 1 OfficeMax (don't carry PNY), and 1 CompUSA. I looked at close to 75 pkgs. of PNY 2100. All but 5 were Spectek chips. Of those Spectek chips, about 50% were 2700. Of the 5 that were other brand chips, 2 were Nanya 2100, 1 was Samsung 2100, and the other two were an unknown logo to me.

Sad, because I was hoping to find some Infineon or Samsung 2700. Six months ago it was much easier to find.

Also, all the Spectek sticks are single sided. The problem this poses if for people that want to use heat spreaders.

I'm curious to know what you guys are finding in your local area.

So far out of about 10 packages I've checked (2 OD's and 1 CC), one was Elixir 2100. All the others were Spectek 2100.

Stopped by Staples on my way home. All 10 packages they had were Spectek 2700. I bought two of them ($173 after tax! :Q) and will go return them (my Spectek 2100's from OD) back to Staples later this week. 🙂
