might also want to consider spending a couple extra bucks and getting a FP monitor...a nice 17" can be had for only about $80 more than that CRT

Get rid of the 9500, and go 9700 pro, or above. Also, maybe up the ram to 768.

Ditto.

I would also go with a faster mobo.

I would go with the newer chipset. the 875 or something like that. Its more geared for performance.

It has a cpu, motherboard, video card, harddrive, and memory. Looks good to me.

Do you really think that companies are going to release a game that only people that bought the top-of-the-line systems within the few months before its release can play?

NO.

You will be able to play with a 1GHz processor and a deccent GF3 graphics card. Thank you.

Oh, how wrong you are.

from the benchies i saw on anand's review, i doubt any existing card today is going to get good framerates with full goodies on. even the 9800 pro and 5900 ultra were only getting 50-60 fps with max settings. hopefully the new ati will be announced in the next month or so, driving prices down. i'm in the market for one of the 9800's myself.

Stick with the IS7 It's just like the IC7 yet it actually has LAN. Don't believe me? Go check out the MotherBoard forums...People have been getting IS7s with PAT and GAT enabled. Yipee!

BTW get a NEC 1760V 17" LCD. It's by far one of the best gaming LCDs out there. I can attest to it. Any ghosting you may notice is shortly unnoticable. 16MS response time. And under $400 from newegg.

For the motherboard, get the Abit IS7 or IC7 series. For RAM, I'd stick with 2 or 4 sticks. I don't know how dual channel will handle that. For the fp monitor, look at the Samsun 172* series or the 171* series.

Oh yeah, for the price of the sound card spend like $6 more and just get an Audigy 2 OEM.

Video card: Get the 9800 Non Pro or the 9800 Pro and a seperate TV Tuner/Capture device. I reccomend the Leadtek Winfast 2000XP Deluxe.

I'm no speaker expert but i thought $170 was a crap load of money to spend on 2.1 speakers even though they are Klipsch.

I guess Logitech's Z560...

z560's are only good for those who listen at moderate to moderately high levels. if you blast them for prolonged periods of time, they have been known to blow.
