Dead pixels

Hey guys

I just have a quick question... I know that with buying an LCD, there exists the very real chance that you might get a dead pixel or 2. My question is, can dead pixels appear after the panel has been in use for a while? I recently got a new LCD, which has 2 dead pixels (trust me, it's irritating all right!), but I was worried whether more can/might appear?

TIA

Once, I got an LCD with 20+ dead pixels. While I was doing an exchange, the CSR said that they may have appeared because of mishandling during transport. He said that power surges may cause dead pixels too. I don't know for sure whether that's true or not, but that's what he said.

Yes they can. But i've had my 1800FP for 2 years now, and i haven't gotten any new dead/stuck pixels.

Hopefully I'll share the same luck as you then!

How common is it to buy an LCD with dead pixels or have dead pixels appear after personal use?

It's not rare for a LCD to come with a dead (or stuck) pixel or even a few. The higher resolution your LCD screen is the better chances you'll have a dead pixel. After personal use, it's not that common that more will show up. Laptop LCDs are more prone to it just because you travel with it.

I have had a few that got stuck and just pushing them unstuck them lol, I have had no completely stuck pixels for a year, hopefully my luck will hold. I did however scratch the screen while taking it to school :(, bearly noticable unless you look at a angle.

I have my 1800FP for about a year now. It arrived with no dead pixels and still has none.
