Anyone know what store's have the Mad Dog drive? Any chance I could call them and have them ship to me?

Locally the only drive I can find is the 8x+ only burner.

The OfficeMax in Poughkeepsie, NY had some in stock. A friend of mine got one for me and himself. Now I have to return my Pacific Digital. Glad I didn't open it.

(Update) Fry's (in Wed. L.A. Times) has the Pacific Digital 8x DVD±R/RW drive for $49.99 (No! rebate) ends Thu. 10--28, take the ad to a Officemax store and have they PM the Fry's price.
The deal: OM's price $79.99 - $33 PM (110%) = $46.99 - $50 MIR = FREE + $3 back in pocket.
Of course "all" PMs are YMMV.

I got a MicrosAdvantage Drive and installed it, I am trying to make backups of the DVD's and no luck, the web site says that the Copyrighted movies cannot be copied using this drive. I tried copying 4 different movies and had success with only 1. I was able to burn the movies that was not possible with this drive with Maddog drive.

Anyone else experience the same problem with this drive. Any comments will help so that I can decide if I should returnt he drive back

Thanks for the post. I picked up two of the Pacific Digital drives today and they are both 851S drives. The serials are 47935201XXXX and 42935201XXXX. This was at the Scottsdale, AZ store. They had 2 more of the PDs, one or two MDs, and a bunch of the Khypermedias. Was hoping one would be an NEC but I already have a 2500A (from Newegg) and it seems to have trouble burning some CDRs so figured I'd try the LiteOn. Here's a review on it: http://www.devhardware.com/c/a...LDW-851S-DVD-R-Review/

You cannot back-up DVD movies using the software that comes with in the retail box, you need software like this popular "free" software called DVD Shrink, which you can get here along with a how to Guide: LINK

I got the mad dog NEC 2500A drive and I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with it if its hooked up to a ME-325 series external enclosure. Every time I run dvdxcopy express it crahses the system as its reading the dvd. I updated the firmwear and it still has the same problem.

Anyone have a link or a copy of the rebate for the Pacific Digital? OM seems to have pulled all Pacific Digital rebates from maxmyrebates.com even though the postmark date wasn't until 11/27... What I get for not sending it in right away I guess. :(
