Anyone have a copy of a VALID REBATE for this thing?

RebatesHQ and StaplesRebates don't show any valid rebate for this thing.

There were $30 ones the last week of November, and a $40 one the first week of December, but no current $40 one.

I just (of course) ordered this from staples.com and now was printing out rebates and sure enough.... no valid rebates!

HELP!

how can you combine online $10 of $50 and email $10 of $40 ?

Both of the email coupons clearly state that: minimum purchases requirement ... must be met with purchases to which no other coupon or instant savings offer applies

The drive that I got was labeled CDR-5W48. the Nero ID program does not provide any further info aside from the firmware version and the fact that it can handle Mt. Rainier.

Telltale signs that it is a Lite-On are the typical round bump on the top of the drive, the speed lettering on the faceplate and the locations of the features on the faceplate.

So why didn't they just provide the usual LTRxxxx model number? All my other OEM Lite-On CDRWs use that standard labeling. Answers??

Where does one get the $10 off $40 in-store coupon?

Thanks.

Staples.com has the rebate here, the thing is it says $40 promotion rebate but the reward says $30 rebate check, is that just a typo on their part??

If you want a staples in-store coupon, try signing up for their business rewards program. They email coupons to you regularly for in-store use.

Asking for coupon codes and giving coupon codes breaks the rules here but typically you can find coupons by searching the web. Try putting in the details to google and see what you get. You also might get more explicit responses to this question if you turn on your PMs by editing your profile. ;)

Mea culpa....

I wasn't really asking for codes, but I see your point.

Thanks for the suggestion.

This isn't true!

Geez people, think back awhile. Sometimes it takes Staples 2 days to get the rebate forms posted on their site. As for the error with the form, I'm sure Staples will get it corrected soon.

Thanks for the info about the online rebate form.

I actually needed a new drive, so this is a pretty sweet deal.

Hey all,

I just got in on this deal as well. I was able to use the $15 off $75 aswell! $15+tax is a GREAT deal! I was also able to get them to Price Match the PNY 256 DDR 2100 deal. $35 for a 48x burner and 256 of DDR memory...wow!

It is a liteon. If the firmware version is a "VSxx" and it looks similar to the liteon faceplate, it is a lite on. I have the cdr-5W48 too.

go here. and do a CTRL F, and search for cdr-5W48. You will find it listed under liteon...but without the Lite on name since it is an OEM.

still not convinced? go here.

Phatbaby,

Thanks much. So now I know that Lite-On has a million versions, and that it's only by chance that all mine have been the LTR versions.

I have this drive. It is definately a lite-on. Burns a 700 meg cd in 2:50. It's very quiet too.

I got one of these back in October and received a $40 rebate check from that offer.

Can I buy another CDRW now under this deal and get another rebate? The terms say one rebate per person/household/address?

I have purchased two rebaged Lite-ons, one was a Buslink and the other a Cendyne. To verify they were rebadged Lite-ons, I carefully pealed the upper right corner of the label back and underneath was the Lite-on label! Can't be any easier way than that and you can do this in the parking lot and immediately return it if it is not what you want!

is there any reason to flash to a lite on other than trying to overclock it to 52x?
i didn't buy one but i told someone far away to buy it. they won't really know how to flash the firmware. will they be ok with it as is?
