Thanks for the deal Mystic. I will be grabbing one myself. Sheesh, I long for the days when it a simple $50 off of $50 coupon was all one needed.

I checked Pacific Digital's website, it DOES appear to be a Lite-ON because it uses SMART and SMART-X, as well as supports Mt. Rainier format. I may return my Cendyne from OM and get this two questions though, is the rebate a Staples or Pacific Digital one (PD took over a year for a rebate for me once), and is it possible to use an emailed in-store coupon on two different occasions (the reason I ask it is has a very long coupon code)?

Edit: OK, a bit more investigating show there is no doubt, it IS 100% a Lite-ON drive. It is model LTR-48125W. Have comments on this model?

just came up with a great deal.

add maxtor 60 gig hdd+ optimun(100) cdr+ copy commander+pacific digital cdrw
90 + 22+ 30 + 70 = 210
use the 50 off 200 coupon(hope it didn't expire) 210 - 50 = 160 -40(cdrw) - 30(copy commander) - 20(cdr) - 20(hdd) = about 50 bucks.

online only.

edit: just thought about it, 50 bucks for a hdd and burner isn't that hot considering most of you get cdrws for free nowadays, and 20-30 bucks for a 60gig. so yea, poop away.

p.s. those rubber bands are great.

Yes you can use the 16 digits code emailed in-store coupon more than once, they haven't started tracking the codes in their stores yet, and the rebate in the same deal that I posted last month went through RebateHQ.com who handles most of the Staples rebates.

Best deal seems to be this IMO

CDRW + Calculator(#491733) + Stupid stuff - Coupon - CDRW MIR - Calculator MIR + TAX = 70 + 4 + 1 - 15 - 40 - 4 + TAX = 75-59 + TAX = 16 +TAX

(Damn, it seems like yesterday when my 2X Ricoh burner cost $400 and I thought it was a steal)

I have purchased three of these Pacific Digital 48x12x cdrws and all have been lite-ons. If you are picking up in the store just look for a 12 digit serial number on the box, should be a lite-on. Good luck, great drive for the price, but not quite as hot as the officemax burner deals as of late. Rebatehq rebates are the full 8-10 weeks on these drives, which can wear my patience.

Can anyone confirm that these are indeed rebadged Lite-Ons? I picked one up with a 12 digit S/N. PN: U-30127. UPC 644405301272.

I couldn't find the rebate online either. Mine printed out with the receipt.

That is what I got also. It says SmartBurn on the front of the box so I am assuming that it is indeed a LiteOn although it has a Pacifix Digital sticker on the drive itself.

i just got back from staples and i got the same drive as adinar. the model number is cdr-5w48. i did a quick search on google and this is what i came up with. here hopefully im not mistaken.

after reading up some more...i flashed firmware on this drive so my computer recognize it as a lite-on 48125w drive. im still testing it but so far, it seems to be able to burn at 48x using nero. one thing though, cdrwin doesn't see this drive when using it to burn but sees it when i use it to image a cd. the version of cdrwin i'm currently using is 3.9a.

I just picked one up too. Haven't opened it yet but hopefully it will be like everyone elses.

The csr applied the $15 off coupon even though the total was below $75 :)

*woot* Looks like I lucked out. I got a Lite-On drive in my box. It says "Lite-On LTR-48125W" on the drive, shows up the same in my BIOS & device manager.

I got mine and it's Lite-on also. Burned at 40x for me though and I also can't use CDR-WIN but Nero worked.

Best thing is there is a $15 off $75 printable instore coupon around that will make this deal $15. :)

Also 100CDR disks for $1.94 AR there.

CDR-WIN probaby doesn't recozine the OEM CDR-5W48 drive, try updating the drive with the latest LiteOn firmware.
