hdd arrays are always very slow when doing anything with them, usually the higher numbers are slower. Its even slow when doing empty drives. Doesn't really matter what adapter you use.
Even uber expensive SCSI raid cards are slow on raid stuff.
But once they are done its usually fine. Its just the creating, rebuilding, etc that takes a while. I've heard of some rebuilding horror stories where a rebuild will take litterally a week of 24/7 days.

I had no trouble cloning my 300GB drive to this 400GB SATA with the included Seagate software. It just took an overnight transfer.
Windows Vista had no problem recognizing the drive.

I bought two from local B&M two days ago. One is made in Singapore and other in China. I decided I only need one. How do I tell which is .10?
Likely both are. The place of manufacture makes no differance, they are making 7200.10s at both places.
Hint: The model number information is on the drive label, not the one on outside of box. In other words you have to open up the box and look at the drive itself.
I picked up two of these at $119 for RAID 0. Good to finally have some storage - thanks for the heads up.

Rebate was only good till 9/30, sounds like you would have gotten in too late for the rebate as well.

Anyone know if the perpendicular storage tech is compatibile with an Intel 875 chipset? I'm using an Asus P4C800 Deluxe mb, and I don't know if this combination will work. The board does accept SATA drives.

The board/chipset won't know what technology you use - heck you can use a SATA to IDE adaptor, and an IDE to CF adaptor, and be running off a Compact Flash card for all the motherboard cares. All it cares about is that what's plugged into the SATA ports conforms to the SATA standards. Only potential problem is if the board doesn't like SATAII, in which case the drive can be jumpered to slow it down, IIRC (in fact, may be default setting).
BTW, I'm using one of the Seagate 320GB 7200.10 drives on an 865PE chipset board just fine.
