This printer doesn't support PCL, just Samsung's own printer commands - correct?
According to the Samsung web site, the 1210 has been obsoleted, so this is a close-out. The apparent remaining low ends are the 1250 (which has PCL6, and does 1200x600, but comes with only 4MB RAM (expandable, though) and is ~$160 shipped from EMS), and the 1430 (which is a bit faster at 15ppm, but otherwise seems similar to the 1210, and is ~$185 from EMS). I don't see any point to the 1430 over the 1210 (3ppm isn't worth $55 to me), but PCL may be worth $30, even if I have to add some memory - anyone know what it uses?
Does anyone have a suggestion for another cheap (<$250, pref <<$250) laser printer? It must be a real printer, not a Win printer. Important items, not necessarily in order are: print quality (for text and simple graphics), print speed, cost of consumables, compatibility (I know I'm not gettting Postscript at that price, but PCL would be nice), reliability, size. Nice would be memory expandability, availability of an automatic duplexing attachment, availability of a Ethernet interface (like HP Jetdirect). HP 1000 is a Win printer, and HP 1200 is too expensive, so they're both out.
