That sucks. The bottom of the ad says "No other coupons or discounts will be honored at this event, with the exception of Mail-In Rebate offers."

That's just one manager's opinion who doesn't know about the $50 MIR that on the Officemax web site, well I guess he does now. :p
This is a unadvertised rebate just like it was last week, when this same chair was on sale in some OM stores for $49.99 and a unadvertised $50 rebate printed out at most of the store that had the chair on sale, that rebate was the same as the on-line rebate except it expired on Sat. 7-24 and the on-line rebate expires 9-18.
The bottom line is if you are afraid you will not get the $50 rebate don't buy the chair, I'm sure someone else who's not worried about the rebate will grab that free chair and run home with it.

I went ahead and bought the chair anyway, since I'm in need of one. But I don't think the rebate will go through. It has the coupon promotion code printed very clearly on the receipt.

I've gotten several of the KHypermedia 10-pack DVD+R over the past few weeks. They burn fine in my Lite-on burner. The first couple packs were 2.4x only, but the pack I got last week show up as 2.4x and 4x in DVD Decrypter.

I may be wrong, but I think there are two different media covers for the DVD+R. The ones I've been getting are silver with green text, and I've seen some that are solid green.

I snagged a Quickdrive, no problem with that Family and Friends crap. I noticed on the Micro Advantage web site that they list two 128mb drives. Model QD128 J13 and QD128 B13. The spec sheets are identical, so I don't know what is up. I received model QD128 J13 which included a USB extension cable, a key ring (big deal) ,Neck strap and software CD, $11.64 after tax and rebate. SWEET!

I happened to find this post this morning. I took the pdf in and asked one of the cashiers where the chair was. He pulled it from the back for me and I got one of those desks. The guy was really friendly about it and recognized the flyer right away. He didn't question me about where I got it or why it was on white paper and not whatever color they were using. This saves me a bundle since I am moving in a few weeks to an unfurnished place. If the chair rebate doesn't go through, I won't cry but here's to hoping it will! Thanks for posting this up.

If you look at the ad there are several item on sale that have a a "instant coupon" and also offer a "mail-in rebate" like the 128 MB QuickDrive, the Xerox 17" LCD or the Compaq RS2103US notebook, I doubt that people buying these item will have their rebate rejected because their receipt has a coupon promotion code on it, but that's just my opinion.

I just returned from OM and also had no problems. I got the green DVD+R 50-pack but the brand seems to be "Value Disc".

I tried out the chair and was a little disappointed. Of course if it's free, that's cool, but still it wasn't very comfortible. They had another chair going for $50 after a small discount that was much more comfortible with a mesh like back support.

I also got the thumb drive, CRT monitor and some notebooks and folders. I was expecting them to reject my $10 off $20 but they accepted it.

The thing with the usb drive rebate is that the rebate prints out with the receipt, so you don't actually have to send in a copy of the receipt. The rebate for the chair does not print out, so therefore you have to send in a copy of the receipt, which shows the promotion code. I'm going to send in a rebate anyway, but don't expect it to work.

Since you can send in a copy of the UPC code with the rebate what you can do if you have a flatbed scanner is scan the UPC code without taking it off the box and send that in with the rebate and keep track of the rebate on-line at RebateHQ.com to see when they say that your rebate has been receicved and is being processed, if they reject your rebate you can return the chair to the store. I think the return time for chairs is 30 day, but it should take RebateHQ.com about 10 to 14 days to post the status of your rebate.

Well, I don't plan on returning the chair, actually. It's alright for 50 bucks. I mean, padded folding chairs go for like 30 bucks. Why not shell out 20 more for a better padded chair with wheels, armrests, and rotating base?

I picked up the chair, the Office Max in Plano (75/Plano Pkwy) had tons. I took in my printed ad, but the cashier already had one and scanned that one for the coupon. When she called it in to be brought up front, she told the guy "it's the one that's on sale" so I obviously wasn't the first person in there today :)

Im gonna send in the rebate anyway. Who knows. If not, I'm happy anyway. Pretty good chair, I'm happy with it for 50 bucks if the rebate is a bust.

got the chair. Slightly disappointed as its not as confi as expected. But free is great right??

Well, thought of buying any DVD+/- RW (Mad Dog/ Micro Adv/some other). The store manager didn't accept the phone order coupo. He wanted to see the mailed / printed coupon than the # itself. Moreover, he also said that he will honor only one of the coupon either phone order coupon or instant Rebate on the product. I said that its an Instant Rebate not the coupon, isn't rebates and coupons differnt??

After realizing that, he won't give a damn, I returned politly with the purchase of chair. How many of you guys got honored with the coupons + Instant rebates? If Anyone from New Jersey, got them please let me know which OM store gave you? I went to Route 22 one.

Thanks OP

I just picked up 2 of the 50 packs of Kyphermedia DVD+R's. They work fine in my lite-on writer so far. No complaints. 100 DVD's for $40 is a good deal to me.

Picked up the chair even without the rebate.
There were a few left in the store (here in Louisiana). Talked to manager and showed him the print-out from website. Ever since the rebate form prints from cashier machine a few months back, there is no grey area anymore. At least, the manager told me so. He has been very nice, made a few phone calls regarding rebates for me before, so I took his words for it. I'll mail it anyway, just not expect much of it.

I just got back from OfficeMax and was going to buy the chair, in fact three of them for the office and house. They were curious why I was getting three chairs on different receipts and informed me that they were not free. I showed them the mail-in rebate and assured me that the rebate will be rejected. The said these rebates are worked out with the manufacturer and that they decided to invalidate rebates in favor of an instant coupon for today.

I didn't think the risk was worth it considering there are better chairs and better non-free deals for this particular chair. Perhaps those of you who will proceed with the rebate will get it honored by ignorance by the fulfillment center - or they may think the 50 discount that is marked on the receipt is something other then today's special.

** Do post on this if the rebate does go through as it will be a learning experience as to how these situations are truly handled.
