REBATE EXPIRED, so no longer a super deal.

Good deal it lasted...

Although some people have had problems with the rebate. Read toward the end of the thread.

OD's PNY 256M PC133 SDRAM deal now available for delivery

Office Depot has changed their website for this excellent SDRAM deal! YOu can now order on-line for home delivery rather than having to do store pickup.

Base price of the deal is now $49, shipped or picked up, less coupon and MIR.

PNY 256M PC133, $49

Add pens or paperclips to go over $50

Search for on-line coupons in the usual places... $15 off $50 may be available. You get an e-mail one-time $10 off $50 after you sign up for an account (or at least I did). There are also 10% off $50 coupons available if you can't find any other.

And here is a printable coupon for $15 mail-in rebate for purchases through 2/2/02 (WARNING: Must mail within 14 days!)

So, net price after coupon and MIR will be $20 - $30, depending on how good a coupon you found.

PS: My RAM stick had infineon chips on it... some people have asked.

Just got one. Good deal since ram prices are steadily increasing and most people are have been saying that they their getting hynix or infineon chipsets.

I used the $15 off $50 coupon over at F@t w@llet so it ended up costing me $24 after tax and MIR.

Thanks I just ordered this and it says my delivery date is THURSDAY!

Mind you, I will be waiting for this cheap RAM to come in on Thursday so I can submit my damn rebate!

Even though I don't need the memory (at least right now), I jumped on this deal anyway because I want the Norton Antivirus. I was able to use a $15 off $50 coupon, so if the rebate comes through, my final cost for this stuff will be very, very cheap. I got some Great White coated photo paper (100 matte heavyweight sheets) for $11 and a stapler for $5 to get my total over $50 for free delivery. I needed these things anyway. I am really curious how the Great White paper compares to Epson matte photo paper, because it is about half the price of Epson.

I got in on this deal a couple of weeks ago. The PNY RAM stick I got had Micron chips on it, the model #'s on the chips were identical to other 256MB PC133 CL2 Crucial sticks I have, but the PNY RAM only tested at CL3 in SANDRA. It runs just fine at 133 CL2 though :)

Warning on the rebate, it is only once per household, so if you already did this deal, you can't do it again (and get the rebate). And you have to send it in within 14 days after purchase.

Also, on the NAV 2002... it can cause a strange error on networks where it can cause a Win2k machine to BSOD (tcpip.sys) if it tries to access shared resources (shared drives/printers) on another Win2k machine across the network. It took me a while to track this down and isolate it, but I have tried it on several machines, with different configurations (AMD, Via, and Intel) and NAV 2002 is definitely at fault (although I still can't figure out why).

Still a very good deal on the RAM though.

Got mine yesterday and it has Samsung chips on it. SPD info comes back as CL3 and 6-3-3. Too bad I couldn't get delivered when I ordered. Instore pickup is a joke at Office Depot. Every time I go in the order is not ready. The whole point is to save time, but it always takes about 30 extra minutes than if you just walk in and buy something normally. Oh well, still a great deal. I'll try mine at CL2 and see how it does anyway.

Still in stock at 7pm central time 1-29-2002 for zip code 35805. I added some paper clips to get over $50, so I am eligible for free shipping and $15 off $50. Shipped total was $38 and some change, so total will be around $23 after rebate.

SimMike2, you did not need to add so much. $50 total is before coupon. I'm sure that OfficeDepot appreciates your support, though.

I got the same also. Yeah, thats good. Supposedly they're better at overclocking, Mushkin uses Infineon.

AnyMal,

Re your comment

>256MB PC100 is also available through this promotion.

In almost every case, a PC133 chip works just fine in a machine that needs PC100 memory. I have never heard of a single case where this isn't true, though there may be some.

With PC100 and PC133 selling for the same deal and same price, it would always be better to take the PC133. Someday, you may get a PC which requires PC133, and then you'll be able to move this memory over. If you get PC100 and the new machine requires PC133, you are S.O.L.

A big thank you to BigDoggie!!

Just placed an order for a 256mb stick that comes with Norton Antivirus.

Added a pack of rubber bands. Total came out to be $39.97 and that's before the rebate.

Great deal, thanks again!

(In stock in the San Francisco area)
