in today's dallas morning news sports page, there are 4 coupons:

$40 off lowest marked price of entire stock of Smith and Wesson (reg price 519.99 - 619.99)
$25 off lowest marked price for Model 92 or 96 Beretta (reg price 549.99 - 629.99)
$25 off lowest marked price for entire stock of Ruger (reg price 339.99 - 499.99)
$100 off Glock Standard models (reg price 599.99)

in the year I have been looking, I have never seen them on sale before and are usually excluded on their 25% coupon deals...

if these can be had cheaper, by all means, let everyone know....

Since this is a B&M they will let you have one in accordance with state and federal laws. This often means a background check and a waiting period. If you dont know your local gun control laws, contact your local police department.

here in Dallas, they can run a check on you at the counter...if there are no red flags or you are not selected for a random check, you can walk out the door with it...

If there is a red flag or you are selected for a random check, it can be about 3 - 5 days...

Actually, the Federal regs are a max of 3 business days with no response:

2) The interim provision of the Brady Act allowed up to five days to process a background check; however, responses under the permanent provision are to be "immediate." If the FFL does not receive a response within three business days, then the transfer may proceed.

More info on National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) here

I would recommend the Glock based on personal experience. The Glock doesn't have all the safetys the other guns have though. My glock has only one safety in the trigger. The sucker shoots straight and has never jammed on me even using crappy target shooting rounds.
I have a Glock 27 compact .40 cal. The ammo is expensive, so I complemented it with a 100 buck .22 rifle from WalMart for going to the range and shooting all day for cheap (box of 550 .22 rounds are like 6 bucks from WalMart.)

Wow, Glocks are expensive now. I prefer the CZ75 which has a better balance and is more comfortable to shoot. I like my Glock 17 though.

I've been looking for a gun ever since ohio passed it's new concealed carry laws. I'm looking forward to being able to walk into a bar and challenging some varmint to a duel. The wild west was awesome. I'm glad that lawmakers have finally realized that there's such a thing as TOO much law and order. Besides, guns are sexy!

I can't wait to move back to PA. Living in NY sucks. I had to leave all my handguns with my parents. :(

Good deals, BTW. I've been wanting a Glock for a while. Building up an AR15 at the moment. :)

I don't want to pick on any particular responses to the OP, but it sounds like some of you may not fully understand what a gun is capable of, and how serious owning one really is.

Guns are not toys. I personally own them for hunting only. Anyone who plans on buying a gun, especially a hand gun, should seriously consider buying a trigger lock, lockable gun cabinet, and storing the ammunition in a different location from the weapon. ESPECIALLY if you have children, or have children visit your home where the gun is located. Just read the news and you can find out what happens when you are not a responsible gun owner.

To the OP, coupons for guns are fairly rare because there is very little markup on guns. I've personally noticed that stores like Gander Mountain will mark up their shotguns more than $50 above any other store. Then they put them on "sale" for the regular price... I've never shopped at Oshmans, but you may want to compare with other gun retailers to see if the prices are very different. You can also probably find very good deals at your local gun range. Often they have bulletin boards where people post buy/sell ads.

Is there somewhere online to buy used handguns from an individual, without them wanting near list price?

I have a Glock 17 and a 19. Very reliable units!!! I still prefer my Sig 226.

Lennon was right. Happiness is a warm gun!

PS: All of my "toys" are under lock and key.... or in the safe for that matter!

Guns are like pets..... some people just shouldn't be allowed to own them!

I had an original model Glock 19 for a long time. It's a great gun.

Oh and fyi... concealed permits do have limitations including all state/federal buildings, banks, and BARS.

Glocks actually have THREE safeties, there just isn't a manual safety.

Glocks are simpler, safer, & more reliable than most any gun out there & they're very cheap too (thanks to their polymer frames.

oooh a rare gun hot deal! It's starting to sound like a glock lovers' convention, though. I would recommend any potential buyers to try out a few different models before settling on one thing. My first impression of a glock 10 years ago was pretty bad. The trigger pull was stinky and it was TOO light such that it ruined my re-aim during rapid firing. I probably could have learned to live with it or had a gunsmith tune it up but I had this Browning Hi-Power Combat 9mm that was like an extension of my arm. It was just point, shoot and hit on 12" targets 15 yards out -- aiming was optional. I miss that little shootin' iron.
