I'm currently using the intellimouse optical for gaming.

Would it make significant performance increase
 
the most responsive mouse on wire, no doubt about that. this is more responsive than the mx500 and mx700.

There is now absolutely no excuse for anyone to use a crappy cheap mouse. 🙂

$20 is insane. Regardless of the release of the new mice (MX518, MX1000). If you don't want to invest a lot into a mouse this is the deal to go for.

 
in terms of response, this is the best mouse i've used. however, i wouldn't mind if it were a little larger (wider).
 
Thanks OP. Fabulous deal. It's a great mouse if it fits your hand. It keeps your hand feeling good even after long sessions.

That picture on the Monarch site makes the mouse look nice and red. Mine is only vaguely red - not nearly as nice as that one.
