HOT. Thank you!! I had just order three of those Samsung F3 1TBs 2 days ago from Newegg. They are still on the truck on the way here. I ordered 3 more just now with the combo. I will ship the first 3 back.

Also, these combos are FS. (Was for me anyways)

As a heads up - $76 is likely only good for today (2/7/10). It's part of the Shell Shocker on the Blacx dock. Note that the price on the drive is cheaper with the dock than without.

Oh FFS! Newegg is messing with my head!!! Now I have a total of nine F3s on the way. Have to ship six of them back!

What is FS?

EDIT: Never mind. FS = Free Shipping

the redirector link to "http://detonator.dynamitedata.com" doesn't work, just stalls out, how annoying.

Dang. Last week I spent $10 more & got a WD Black 1TB & a Rosewill dock.
Too impatient to get my Hackintosh going!

HOLY SMOKES... because the Thermaltake is a Shell Shocker, the combo price is now $76. This is probably only good for today (Sunday?).

What is the practical use of the docker? Is this so you can use the HDD for internal or external use?

Instead of ripping open your case to pull data off drives, all you have to do is drop it in this enclosure. Also, it works with 2.5 and 3.5 inch drives.

Thanks for the heads up, her209

Is this basically the fastest 1TB 7200rpm drive currently available?

I'm looking to step up from WD Black 640GB, but have not seen 1TB WD Blacks with 500GB platters yet.

Here's a helpful review of the F3:

To answer jrichrds, there are no WD Blacks with 500GB/platter except for the 2TB model. This review compares the Samsung and WD Black 2TB directly. The Samsung is generally equal to or faster than the WD 2TB and obviously much cheaper.

I see this as saving $10-15 on a good drive and the dock is gravy by which I mean repulsive because that's what USB2 is. If you can manage to sell it for a few rupees without too much hassle then the cost of the drive is effectively reduced by that much more.

I was ready to jump on this but saw the Thermaltake BlacX was USB only. I don't need a doorstop.
