Ordered one on 10/3, got the delay e-mail, still says "In production"

Ordered another on 10/8, never got an e-mail about a delay, now has shipped!:)

I still wonder how Dell decides which ones to ship first?

What's really funny: When I ordered the 2nd one, the estimated ship date was on or before 10/23/02. Looks like they even kept their shipping estimate on this one.:Q:D

Being one of the "lucky ones" who has already received the 120GB hard drive (and sent in the rebate too) and now has the DVD burner on the way, I guess after all the anguish, Dell has come through!

Please don't flame me. I can't help that I am "lucky".;)

hope everyone else gets a shipped confirmation soon too.
also, my origianl order confirmation said expected ship date of 10/23/02, it seems as if they arent shipping these in the order they were ordered.

mine stills says delayed, but estimated ship date is still the 24th..... cross those fingers.

I think your coupon shipped. I have order # 1237108XX ordered on Oct 3rd. Don't even have a ETA date or delay date. My original delay date was Oct 8th. Oh well Dell's Hell Bellz.

I ordered mine on 10/7/02. I checked this morning and it shows as shipped. Lucky for me it shipped yesterday from Doravile, GA and will be delivered today. :D

I called customer service this morning an they said that my drive will be shipped today if it has not already. I'll believe it when they send me the tracking number but since a number of people here have received shipping confirmation in the last 24 hours it seems highly possible. This situation is starting to look a lot better.

Well, I called customer service to respond to the "11/29" ship date. He said that they are completely out of stock, that this is "an extremely popular drive," and that "there had been a run on this drive." Point being, he couldn't confirm that I would be getting this drive any time before 11/29, or even that I'd get it then.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. If I hadn't trusted Dell, I could have had this drive at BBY for a few dollars more.

Status online still says "Delayed Currently attempting to complete order".
I think the most important point is how much did you pay for.
Could people, who got their drive shipped also report the price they pay for?
My price is $253.06.

Spoke to customer disservice today (10/23) and all they could tell me was a possible date of Oct 29 for stock. I asked if she meant Nov 29, but she insisted Oct 29. She said they're out of stock, and couldn't (wouldn't) tell me if they had ever had stock and had ever shipped any of these drives.

10/3/02 - Order # 12345xxxx for total price of $268.70. Received delay e-mail, and I am still waiting for more info.

10/8/02 - Order # 12665xxxx for total price of $243.56. This drive has been shipped. I should receive it Friday or Monday.

Nice of them to send the lowest cost one first!;)

The SKU number A0063975 shown on my Order Status page is different from the Dell Part# A0060843 on the Product Details page. When I do a search for SKU number A0063975, a product is not found. Has this happened to anyone else?

By the way, I placed my order on 10/1, and it is still delayed.

i paid $243.56 on 10/08/02 and it should arrive on monday it says.

Arrggh, I have an order number of 12146XXXX, but its still showing in production. Shouldnt the ones who ordered first get the drive first? Dell's order system sux :|

Mine has always said "InProduction" but when I would click on that, it would show that the drive was delayed. Now when I click on "InProduction" the delay notice is gone, which is why I decided to call Dell and find out what was going on. Like I mentioned in my earlier post, they said that it will be shipped today. I still haven't gotten a tracking number or an email saying that it has shipped so I may end up calling them again in a couple of hours to see if my CSR was talking out of her a$$ or not.

Did some order this from Home and some from Small Buisness? Is that the pattern? I was the first reply to this post and my order number is 120741XXX but mine still says delayed. I called and they said "November"

I ordered the drive through Dell Home for $253.06 on October 1. My order number is 12098xxxx. I'm going to call again right now to find out if it's shipped.

Update: I just got off the phone with Dell and they said my drive has not shipped but will be shipped within the next 24-48 hours.

The fact that they are still selling it when they can't fill all the orders they have is another reason a lot of us are upset.

glad my sis works @ dell. she was able to get my drive shipped to me today. mine was also shipped from a warehouse in the dfw area. sure is a damn site better than waiting till nov 29th like they suggested :)

Just relax and wait for your drive to come. It will come....

Anyway, just thought that Sony should use this quote in their ad for the DRU500:

"One drive to burn them all"

And here is where you can find some info. on the DRU500 (as well as other next gen DVD burners) to munch on while you wait.

After looking at that page, it seems the other drives can do DVD+R at 4x! The Sony can't! Damn it!
