i just finished getting my Western Digital $100 rebates for Three 120gig drives i bought from teh Best Buy deal a month or so ago. 3 120 gig drives, 30 bucks a piece. After that, nothing seems quite as sweet.

How can they be that dumb and argue against a pricematch at the same time?

I'm using this drive right now and I agree 100% with MJ. It is quite loud during seek operations, much more of a rattle than the WD400BB it replaced. His video is pretty much spot on. I've also benchmarked it against the WD in the same role as primary drive on a Windows XP NTFS system. Using Sandra I get:

WD400BB : 14790
Maxtor 6Y080P0: 20756

However, Sandra does tend to give a lot of weight to burst speeds, which means that the Maxtor won't be 50% faster in everyday usage. It doesn't seem any faster anyway.
