The rebate says "CompUSA only".

Anyways, another angle on this deal:

Pricematch CompUSA's $129 price at Staples - $30 off $100 coupon - $20 rebate from STAPLES = $79.99

Is that $20 MR from staples if so than this can get even HOTTER I need help? They said to me the drive came with a Maxtor $30 MR These drives just came out today!!! that rebate is from 9/30 through 12/28 that sounds like a staple rebate not a Maxtor rebate?

The rebate form states 2mb cache model., if you see the form on Maxtor site.
Yes it goes to the same address and department in the form in your link.

I think there will be some rebates for the new drives from Staples soon, but not right now.

I think you'd better verify the rebate is for 8mb cache version with staples, since the rebate goes to Maxtor and the form in Maxtor site for staples.com states that it is for only the model L01J030. The same goes for 120G drive. The form in staples site doesn't say any model but that from Maxtor says it's for 2mb model.

how do you do a price match online? To use the 30 off coupon you have to do it online that is why I'm asking.

Thanks

If there is no rebate then Staples would have to PM CUSA's price of $99.99 - staples $30 off $100 = $69.99 RIGHT? I will call them 1 more time to VERIFY though!!!

I don't think Staples will pricematch because the final CUSA price is after rebate. You would need an awefully dumb CSR to get them to do it. I have also seen that the 30off100 is internet only. They are no longer taking it over the phone becuase of so many pulling it off the internet.

Has anyone actually got this deal to work?

Edit: There is a $20 MIR from staples on this drive.

CONFIRMED!!
I just spoke with Christine, a VERY friendly CSR from 1800-3staple

She said, and I quote
"We CAN pricematch the $129.99 Price from Them, along with taking your favorite 5-digit coupon from Heftywallet.com, and give you the $30 Manufacturers MIR to take the final price down to 68.99 Plus tax on 98.99

$128.99 (110% PM) - $30 off 100 Coupon code (Large Purse) - $30 MIR (Rebate from Maxtor) = $68.99 Plus tax on 98.99
~$75 Shipped AR for a 80GB 8MB Cache Drive. Right around the $1 per GB. Good luck with this deal!

Yep. Did the csr explain how you would send in the rebate? And where you would get it from? I sense a mystery here!

hmm.. i guess you are right. i was tricked by CSR that rebate works for staples also. :p

but the bright side is that i don't have to wait for the rebate? (CompUSA deal has to go through the $30 rebate in order to make it 99.. whereas staples deal is already at 99. )

though it would've been a hotdeal if i could get $30 rebate on top of staple's deal...

but i am happy with my purchase. :)

I have a copy of the $30 rebate from CompUSelessA for the Maxtor 80 GB drive. I read through the fine print and nowhere on the form could I see "one rebate per person, household, etc." on the form. So, if anyone is considering buying more than one Maxtor drive, the rebate shouldn't provide any restrictions for you. Just save a couple of drives for me, would you? ;)

As indicated, Staples has the drive for $139.98 at their site. Hitting the ChubbyWallet site has a process for stacking 2 coupons together ($10 off & $30 off.) You'll need to add something for $10.02 or greater to your cart - suggestion: PhD 3-in-1 pen (Black pen, Red pen, .05 pencil.) Then, you're good to go. Your final order should be in the range of $111.00 - or so. Once the $30 rebate appears on the site, you should be good to go.

I'll then call back to Staples tomorrow to get $10 credited on each drive based on the $129.99 price at CompUSelessA.

With that being said, I just placed my order for two of these fine drives. Thanks - CherryBomb - I owe you one.

Please, please, please don't PM me on any of the coupon details. It's a fairly straight-forward process that took me all of 2 minutes to figure out. Thanks! ;) However, I am open to discussions on the performance of this drive (speed, noise level, etc.) and will discuss those aspects of the drive via PM.
