I would imagine they have a presence in.......50 states. I can't imagine there are any states without some HP employees in them. I know of at least a half dozen sales reps in Arizona, and probably a TON more. They have their name on one of the big buiuldings downtown IIRC. Remember HP includes Compaq, DEC, among others. I'm sure they have people in every decent sized city in the US.

However, some states don't have sales tax, so they should be in good shape.

actually, i didn't get charged tax and I live in NY which has HUGE sales tax. I think if you use a higher ed contract you qualify as tax-exempt as a nonprofit, maybe? I could be wrong though.

Hmm...That's strange, but not REALLY strange. :) In any event, sounds like most people are getting stuck with the tax, so don't hold your breath if you haven't gotten charged yet.

Dude, please be humble about being in Silicon valley. My friends out here are looking for jobs for quite some time now.

this is the WORST place to be for jobs right now... you see office buildings all over the place yet, for every 4 buildings you pass, 3 are completely empty... deserted... dude it's scary.
usually Silicon Valley = more jobs... but right now, more jobs = a LOT more places for a LOT more job cuts... it's pretty much impossible to find a job relating to tech here right now...

sorry if i may have sounded a bit arrogant, i wasn't trying to be. :( i was just trying to say that it's pretty cool to be able to see what all these companies look like and where they're coming from, seeing how they're such big influences on society and everything. it's one thing to hear about it all, but to actually see it for real, it's pretty inspiring. :)

I used the higher ed E-AND-I contract to order, but I still got charged tax. Regardless, it's still a lot cheaper than paying $399 retail with tax... which comes close to or around $430. They didn't ask for any varification with any organization/school (even though I was) so I'm guessing they're just giving it to the people who ordered it at that price w/o verifying due to the massive amount of orders they received, so they're just trying to get them through as fast as they can. People who ordered early before news of this got around probably got away with no tax. But hey, if I had known about student pricing earlier, I would've been at this long ago as would most of you I'd say ;)

Are people getting cradles with this deal of just the power supply and USB cable, I saw a post on another site claiming the deal has not cradle with it?

Nah that's just someone talking outta their arsehole, laddie.

The reason people thought that is that it doesn't list the cradle under the 2210s specs on hp's site so they assumed it wasn't there (i don't know if it's listed with the 2215 either). They really are the same unit, with the exact same stuff in the box - it's just a plain cardboard box without the pretty printed exterior box around it.

Mine most definitely came with a cradle.

Anyone who got theirs already, is the sync interface the same as the 3800/3900? I have a lot of cables I'd like to be able to use.

From what I understand, the connector itself is the same, so all cables and such should work. However, the bottom of the unit is flat. not rounded like the 3900, so many peripherals such as keyboards and cradles that line up with the contours of the 3900 won't fit the 2210 (although many things are possible with a Dremel ;)). Also, keep in mind that it runs the new PPC 2003 OS, which usually requires different drivers for hardware (although most software applications, with a few notable exceptions like PocketMVP, work fine). I'm personally eagerly awaiting the new supersmall Stowaway XT supporting the 2210, but alas, it supposedly makes the 2210 lock up and crash with the current drivers.

Ah well... the price early adopters have to pay, i suppose.

Does anyone know if the unit comes with international warranty? I'm leaving soon for overseas and don't want the risk of not being able ot repair it should something happen...

Called up their 1800 number - at first - they mentioned that it does not come with the int'l warranty... and they do not offer it... then a 2nd call same thing- the unit does not come with int'l warranty.. and they do offer it - but in another department... grrrr those reps ...

Pls PM me if you have the answer... I'm sure there are others who have the same concern ;)

i got mine in the mail not to long ago. Opened the box, no user manual. Called up and they told me to print it out. I got it for the $267 price through my university and had a tax exempt form, however, they would not honor it because I didnt order it through the public sector department or something like that... Damn tax....

did anyone else have HP screw up and send them TWO 2210s by accident? They did that to me (and yes, they billed me for both...). Really weird. Wish they'd get their act together.

Guess i'll put it up in the For Sale forum, rather than deal with HPs "customer support" (if you can call it that). If anyone's interested who doesn't qualify for the discount is interested (i'm asking $350 shipped to the US) let me know.

Why don't you sell it for what you got it for. If you want to make some profit, that makes sense too except for the fact that you can buy them retail cheaper?

Where? I'm not seeing anyone online showing a price under $350, and they all charge tax and/or shipping over the unit price... anyways, if i can't get the price i want here i can always sell it to my neighbor at cost; he's looking for a new PPC anyways.

Now it's cheaper to just buy from amazon since you can get the free $50 GC when you spend over $250. Deal is now officially dead, i suppose. Nice while it lasted.

Just revieved mine on Wed. for $267. No email verification, no phone call, no anything although it wouldn't have been a big deal since I work for a qualified state institution. However, the weird thing was that my boss ordered on also about a week after I did. For some strange reason, he got his 3 days before I got mine. His went via 3 day UPS. Mine went via UPS ground.

Maybe HP knew he was higher up the food chain then me. :)

I just called and checked on their site. You can get this for 301. Not 267 but still better than paying 400 for it.

If you are in new jersey and go through the Higher Education Contract link. The Ipaq now costs $301. It' still cheaper than else where. Maybe it's time to buy now for those who hesitated.

I picked up one of these, and man is it sweet, it replaced my old jornada 568 from the deal where Staples was closing them out that I talked the manager into giving to me for $125 due to "open box" The 2215 can play divx at 29.7 fps, barely, but it can do it, which means no audio sync problems.
