(DEAD)NE Shellshocker: G.SKILL Ripjaws 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600 1.5v $64 FS w/ 15% code

In for two pairs with the code. Now, I've got 16GB GSkill and 16GB Corsair. Guess I didn't need to order the Kingston 4GB kit last week.

how are these different from the Ripjaws X?

Different color pcb (ripjaws = green, x = black), different heat spreaders. That's about it for these...many of the ripjaws have 1.6 or higher voltage, most (all?) of the x are 1.5v, but looks like these are 1.5v, so the only differences are aesthetics, and age in g.skill's product lineup (and therefore possibly date of manufacture).

It appears that the Ripjaws X are "Designed Specifically for Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs and P67 Platforms" and the regular Ripjaws are not?

Considering I just paid almost 50 for 4gb of these a few weeks ago I guess I'll jump 🙂 Thanks!

@Mox - The way I understand it, the fins on the "X" were changed so that they would fit being so close to the CPU as ppl were having issues getting the dimms to fit...although I can't see how they were changed to the better, fins are huge..

I'm thinking of getting the ASUS P8P67 or P8P67-Pro... so should I wait for the Ripjaws X instead of this one?

I purchased 16GB of this RAM for my Sandy Bridge setup and it works beautifully.
There's no need to worry over support from the P67 chipset. This RAM works at 1.5V and has a XMP profile, most if not all modern boards can use XMP to set up the timings properly.
Although the pictures show a green PCB, my 2 sets all were black PCB.

I was able to manually set the timings to "1T" command rate (XMP says "2T") and retained 100% stability.

Excellent RAM for a P67 setup.

I'd be in for one but I need to ask my mom first and she's at a doctor's appointment.
edit: Got a Kit! Props to Lazlo and StormSide! Perhaps now it will be easier to convince my mom to get be a Bulldozer CPU/Mobo in the near future. I'm currently using DDR2 so it'll be a while before I can unleash the badassery that is contained within these RAMsticks.

15% is freakin sweet ass deal. I just can't justify myself a reason to upgrade my memory. Those Dominator GT sure looks sexy.

Really.... I have 4GB. I don't need 8GB. My 1333 is ok. It is. I need to save money....

AARRRRGHH!! /pounds head on desk

I was hesitating on two of these at 150, but I realized the coupon code worked about the same time as this thread went up. 16GB for $127.50 was some tig ole bitties.
