Dead motherboards

I have 3 or 4 dead motherboards lying around. Is there any place I can take them to be disposed of properly? Is there a proper disposal procedure for these components?

You could, but that doesn't mean you should. Are there not some parts that should go for recycling, and others for hazmat disposal?
 
Tear off all the little pieces (capacitors, northbridge chip, and whatever else) and keep them somewhere for a collection.

Hm...with that train of though...solder all the component on the MOBO that you think you might be able to re-use?
 
Hang them on the wall...

But if anyone has dead processors (or working ones you just don't need) a co-worker of mine collects them so let me know.

honestly, because of some of the materials, they should be taken to a recycler

or, google how to melt it down to extract the precious metals and sell them
might net ya somewhere around 5-10 bucks though, if that... so likely not worth the effort
wait, scratch that, likely far from $5, maybe like $1. there isn't that much in each mobo
