Dead Mobo?

sorry. . . here's the rest of my message

I recently bought:
ASUS A7V8X-MS SE
MUSHKIN PC3200 512 MB
AMD XP 2700

I attached the processor, the power supply, and the front panel wires to the mobo and tried to turn in on as a sanity check. When the board is screwed into the case, it doesn't power up. When I take the mobo out of the case it does power up, but displays the processor as a XP 1500. Is this a mobo problem or a cpu problem or both. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Hey Daniel49 . . . just wanted to follow up with the solution. The mobo was shorting on the case. When I installed it correctly, the power up issue was resolved. As for the processor, the FSB settings had to be changed from 100 mhz to 166 mhz. I actually walked the FSB settings and saw the mobo identify the processor as an xp 1800 at 133mhz and as a 2700 at 166 mhz

Thanks for your help.
